FFS I was excited until I saw Forest Whitaker.

Seems like Maybe Mulan meets Star Wars meets the Grit of the modern Battlestar Galactica series?

Don't care about the race(s) colors...It's just that in every movie I see Forest Whitaker in, he's playing the part of 'Forest Whitaker'.

Same here, apparently its impossible to find a black actor who is not Denzel, Whitaker or Samuel Jackson. Its not like there's someone out there saying "wait what WHITAKER is in the new Star Wars movie ? THEN I'll want to watch it for sure"

As an added bonus, this one looks less gay and Millennial than The Force Awakens.

They're making three of them (planned so far...one in each year following the releases of Episodes 7,8 & 9)

The year after Episode 8, we'll get a 'Young Han Solo' themed movie.

After Episode 9, rumor has it that the third stand-alone film will be a Yoda origins story.

Ahhhh....the Star Wars cash cow. Keeps going & going & going. I've gave them the last of my money with Episdoe III. Not falling for it again.

Does no one in Hollywood have any imagination anymore??? 99% of movies these days seem to be either remakes of older movies, sequels to movies that don't need sequels or ridiculously stupid comic book movies brought to life.

Exactly....but in the original SW, Ford was an up-and coming actor and the rest were unknowns or brits.

What ruined the prequels for me wasn't the bad acting, it was Liam Neeson, Ewan MacGregor and Sam Jackson.

I want at least a little bit of suspension of disbelief in the characters by seeing faces that are new and I haven't seen in 100+ movies.

He was very good in it, extremely menacing and unhinged. If that's what he is like I wouldn't want to be a neighbour, I think I would sell up and move.
 

The trouble is Hollywood is only going to throw big money at dead certs. They aren't going to risk investors cash on groundbreaking/original stuff when they have a formula for success.

Sad but true.

Only about 6 unique story lines exist in human culture. Everything is just a re-telling.

Pretty fucking stupid if you ask me.

I hope it's better than the last 1. I was very disappointed despite having the original cast back. ought it anyway since I own all the others. I'll give every episode a fair viewing though. I just with they would do more Lord of the Rings - tales from the Silmarillion.

Another -1 for Forrest Whitaker.
His only role is that of a bumbling sidekick as in Blood sport and Species. He's good at that, lead role - forget it.

Why not have a non-human for a lead character - do humans run the whole universe?
