Re: How are you doing in this economy? Poll
Sorry but those poll makes no sense.
In the thread title, your asking the question "how are you doing in this economy?" But poll answers are all based on your opinion of the economy.

But the two are not related. Personally, I'm doing well in this economy, but my opinion of the economy is very negative.

There's no way I can choose one of the answers accurately in your poll.

Me and wife make more than ever. Very secure jobs. Kids gone no college expenses or loans. Just paid off our house. No debt.

But I have prepared. Gold, silver, water, solar, food and "protection".

I know that there is a storm coming. A bad one.

Being with family and getting by is enough. Fuck keeping up with the joneses so to speak.

I like money. I don't love it.

If the wife didn't recently get a job would be cashing in our pennies to get by! Well after we started selling off things I guess. It's depressing if you let it be however I'm still going on as if the economy will never collapse or you lose all hope! Ahh the good ole days when stuff was booming and we were ignorant of the system of slavery! I miss them days however would probably be dead from the stress by now. Money isn't everything but it sure makes life feel like it's worth living! Never let money (a fiction) make you want to end it all! peace

Good luck riding out this "bad storm". Last I knew, this is a Global Economy Total Collapse scenario we're looking at. So your pieces of paper signifying you own your bits and pieces of gold and silver won't mean diddly squat when this inevitable insanity happens, AC. What you're supposed to do if you're able to do so anymore is physically get your gold and silver to hoard. That way you can use for bartering purposes early on or something. You might want to invest in lots of coffee for bartering purposes too. LOTS of coffee freaks out there...

Don't be bitter at all, nikki. Your opportunity never came just as it was the same for everyone else. It's a housing bubble that will be burst at a later time. You'll be better off than everyone, possibly combined, who partook in the real estate window. It just probably doesn't look nor feel that way for you currently, nikki.

So, we have been hearing conflicting reports of how bad the economy is.

I'm wondering how John & Jane Q Public are doing across the country.

In your view, is the economy terrible? Is it good? Is it somewhere in between?

Well, you know what they say...a recession is when your neighbors are losing their jobs and having their homes foreclosed on.
An economic depression is when you lose your job and your home.

It's an economy of relativity.

Just look around...

Every year my city looks worse. The roads are full of patches and falling apart, vacant buildings and closed businesses with graffiti all over them, beggars and bums everywhere.

The neighborhoods that looked like "Leave it to Beaver" are now just ran down ghetto looking houses with dead grass lawns and faded siding or flaking paint jobs.

It reminds me of "Back to the Future 2", where Biff changes the timeline and changes the present into a world of chaos and disorder.

We need Trump!!!

It's like the movie "It's a Wonderful life" with Jimmy Stewart. When we saw Pottersville, when G Bailey was shown what it would be like if he had never lived, it's like it is in the US today. Pottersville is Bushville because it started when GHW Bush came to power and started fucking with this country. We live in a far different country than it would have been if JFK had not been killed.

Trump is our very last hope.

now rebuilding transmissions on the side, until I can get apparel started again!

I have learned it is essential to be in an Industry that is ALWAYS needed! Food service is one, but it's slave labor...
Transmissions work well, I'm saving people a grand or more and doubling my money on the rebuilds...

Cash wont buy shit when the economy crashes. Federal reserve notes will be kindling, not worth carrying around. It's coming, and soon. I doubt they can hold it together long enough to blame President Trump for the collapse.
Nuclear fallout is not the big problem we have been told since 1st grade. A few days, and a little rain will take care of most of it. Stay inside, living off your preps, for a week or so, then test for radiation. There will most likely be some hot spots, but just avoid those, and enjoy the solitude after the crazy fuckers all kill each other.
Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.

Until this week, I hadn't seen an empty seat on an airplane in decades. I was shocked! Every flight I've been on had stand-by passengers waiting to try and get a seat. Now there are empty seats. The economy is starting to dip, before the big crash.

You can make decent money, develop a marketable skill. It is also therapeutic. I live in the south and am unemployed with a BS in psychology. Yeah, I know my degree is useless for the most part. Funny thing is I could move to WA, CA, or CO and grow for a dispensary.
It is profitable down here.....

Good post. I would have thought your question would have attracted more of a response.

I wonder how some of these other people make it.

Around the Houston area, they continue to build houses which start in the upper 280K range and above.

I wonder to my self. Even in some of my best saliery years, a house with a $1600 mortgage payments a month would have been tough.

But it seems like all of these residential districts full up.

I have no idea how they survive living in these sky-high residential districts...

Maybe Im missing something..

I was in the grocery store this morning looking for cheap food. I saw bacon at 6 dollars a pound! I was remembering when I had a good job and could afford to eat whatever I wanted. I bought a dollars worth of eggs for 2.50 and went over to the dollar store to spend what I had left on canned mackerel. Then I went over to the local job service and the place was packed! I spent all of my resources prepping for a crash! I wish this system would just collapse so we can get back to some sense of normalcy.

Been doing awesome!

My mailbox is always stuffed with envelopes jammed full of large denominations. The people at the Post office want me to pay for a cart to hold all my mail, guess that meansI need a new jumbo truck!

Everywhere I go is a free meal on the house and when I walk down the street the wicked cower and cross over to the other side mumbling to themselves and their parlor pigs.

Today I had my taxes done for free and I am getting more money back from the government.

i love my government!

Been working with three employment agencies and searching on my own for over two years.

Although due to a back injury I cannot work in my field of experience (construction), until I have recovered, all I have been offered are jobs in call centers that pay between $11.00 and $12.00 per hour.

While I took two jobs in different call centers I did not last long. A horrible, meaningless, soul sucking position IMO.

Currently delivering pizzas, 35 hours a week, averaging $15.00 per hour. After insurance, rent and bills I have about $100.00 extra a month for whatever.

Kinda funny, I never made less then $40,000 and $50,000 a year for decades.

Meh. At least delivering pizzas is no stress and most the time I am on the road listening to audio books and music.

That pay for a call center is pretty good, i barely make 11-12 for construction

I don't know, either. I buy their salmon. Then a dollar box of stove top. Throw in some onion and celery if I have some and a large dollop of cream cheese, and two eggs.

I feed the skin and bones to the cat. Add the salmon and juice to the above and shape into patties or a loaf.
You can eat for at least 3 days on this. It tastes very good and is economical.

Mackeral? Is that more like really big sardines as far as taste goes?
