FDA rejects new limits on mercury in vaccines
Group petitioned government to restrict use of controversial preservative

WASHINGTON - Federal health officials won’t put new restrictions on the use of a mercury-based preservative in vaccines and other medicines, denying a petition that sought the limits because of health concerns.
A group called the Coalition for Mercury-free Drugs petitioned the Food and Drug Administration in 2004 seeking the restrictions on thimerosal, citing concerns that the preservative is linked to autism. In a reply dated Sept. 26 but made public only Tuesday, the FDA rejected the petition.
“Only a small number of licensed and approved products still contain thimerosal, and the available evidence supports FDA’s conclusion that all currently licensed vaccines and other pharmaceutical drug products containing thimerosal are safe,” Dr. Jeffrey Shuren, the FDA’s assistant commissioner for policy, wrote in denying the petition.
“We’re not accepting that answer,” said Dr. Mark Geier, one of the petitioners. The group now plans to seek a court order that would force the FDA to withdraw thimerosal from all vaccines and medicines unless the agency can show the preservative is safe, Geier said.
Thimerosal, about 50 percent mercury by weight, has been used since the 1930s to kill microbes in vaccines. There have been suspicions that thimerosal causes autism. However, studies that tracked thousands of children consistently have found no association between the brain disorder and the mercury-based preservative. Critics contend the studies are flawed.
Since 2001, all vaccines given to children 6 and younger have been either thimerosal-free or contained only trace amounts of the preservative. Thimerosal has been phased out of some, but not all, adult vaccines as well.
Most doses of the flu vaccine still contain thimerosal, though manufacturers produce versions free of the preservative for use in children. The FDA said it was in discussions with those manufacturers to increase the supply of thimerosal-free flu vaccine.
There also are minute amounts of mercury, as thimerosal or phenylmercuric acetate, in roughly 45 eye ointments, nasal sprays and nasal solutions, the FDA said. Various antivenoms for black widow and snake bites also contain thimerosal. |

Why Don't the Amish Have Autistic Children?

A United Press International (UPI) reporter went out to search for autistic children in Lancaster County, the heart of Amish country in Pennsylvania. Based on national statistics there should have been as many as 200 children with autism in the community. Instead, he only found three.
One was a young girl who had been brought over from China, adopted by one family only to be given up after becoming overwhelmed by her autism, and then re-adopted by an Amish Mennonite family. The second definitely had received a vaccination and developed autism shortly thereafter. The reporter, however, was unable to determine the vaccination status of the third child.
A quote from the mother of the adopted autistic child speaks volumes: My husband just said last week that so far we've never met a family that lives a healthy lifestyle and does not vaccinate their children that has an autistic child. We haven't come across one yet.
Folks, you don't have to be a medical doctor, hold advanced epidemiology degrees or teach molecular genetics to figure this one out. You don't even need a degree in rocket science. How much more obvious could it be?
Unfortunately, this is just another reminder that the link between autism and vaccines is certainly not new. In fact, many so-called experts have known about these links for more than a decade. Last year, a study I posted found children who received vaccines with thimerosal were 27 times more likely to have autism. Looking at the percentages, that's a 2,700-percent increase in autism in those children who received unnecessary vaccines tainted with mercury.
If you're a young parent weighing the pros and cons of vaccines, I strongly urge you to learn more about the toxicity of thimerosal, the mercury-laced preservative still present in many vaccines.

Unbelievable Merck's Coverups Sends Them Into the Spotlight Again

A memo from Merck & Co. showed that, nearly a decade before the first public disclosure, senior executives were concerned that infants were getting an elevated dose of mercury in vaccinations containing a widely used sterilizing agent.
Around the same time this memo was being prepared, U.S. authorities were also aggressively pursuing the expansion of their vaccination schedule to include an additional five shots for children in their first six months. The danger that these shots pose lies in its deadly ingredient: thimerosal, an antibacterial compound that is composed of nearly 50 percent ethyl mercury, a neurotoxin.
What the Memo Said
The memo, which was written back in 1991, disclosed that 6-month-old children who received their shots on schedule would be receiving a mercury dose nearly 87 times higher than guidelines for the maximum daily consumption of mercury from fish. In addition, it included the following recommendation: whenever possible, particularly among use in infants and young children, vaccines with mercury should be eliminated.
The memo also stated that unlike regulators in Sweden and some other countries, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration does not share the same concern regarding thimerosal.
Merck Tries to Keep its Head Above Vioxx Lawsuits and Vaccine Claims
The Vaccine Injury Compensation Program has received over 4,200 vaccine-related complaints by parents reporting their children experienced side effects such as autism or other neurodevelopmental disorders from the mercury in vaccines.
Meanwhile, Merck has been faced with fighting off legal battles over Vioxx, the popular painkiller that has caused hundreds of lawsuits after being linked to cardiac problems and Merck covering up the risks.
Undisclosed company documents show that the drug maker was in the process of beginning a major cardiovascular study of the drug in 2002, and suddenly dropped the project just before it was set to start. The trial was scheduled to produce data by March 2004 but may have provided answers about Vioxx's risks even earlier if patients had shown ill effects.
It was not until September 2004 that Merck put a stop to a separate study when patients in that trial experienced heart attacks and strokes at twice the rate of those receiving a placebo. At the same time, Merck withdrew Vioxx from the market.
Small Steps Made to Address the Mercury in Vaccines
In recent years thimerosal had been taken out of pediatric vaccines in what health officials described as a precautionary measure but it still remains in most doses of the flu vaccine.
Also, government officials like Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger became proactive in the vaccine dilemma in September when he signed legislation that banned vaccines containing more than traces of thimerosal from being given to both babies and pregnant woman.

Merck seems to be digging themselves into a deeper hole with every new coverup that is exposed.
First, it was the recall of Vioxx. Then, it was a scathing expose about alleged coverups that served to minimize concerns about the now-banned drug's toxicity. It is reprehensible behavior that any company would put their profits ahead of the health and safety of children. I believe in the principle that one eventually reaps what they sow and my guess is that is a big part of the reason we are seeing the destruction of Merck today. Within one year they will have lost $50 billion dollars. However, even losing $50 billion dollars doesn't begin to compensate for the damage they have done to so many families. Thimerosol has been directly implicated in contributing to thousands of autistic children.
Worse still, due to assorted problems including mislabeling -- even after the EPA first mandated the removal of thimerosal in 1999 -- mercury's toxic presence is still being felt today. Even package inserts, which are required to detail exactly what is in a vaccine, may not even be accurate. This means your physician may not even be aware thimerosal is in the vaccine.

Doctors, who give vaccines, have turned a blind eye to vaccine reactions, forgetting that their first duty to patients is to do no harm.
Mothers and fathers raising children who will be the future of America have the right and the responsibility to ask Government and Industry this question: why, when we have given our children the many vaccines you told us would keep them well, why is it that now 1 in 6 American child is autistic or developmentally delayed? In the 25 years that the numbers of doses of vaccines you tell us to give our children has doubled, our nation has seen a doubling of learning disabilities, ADHD, and asthma; a tripling of diabetes; and a 200 to 7,000 percent increase in autism in every state.
It doesn't matter what your published studies say. It doesn't matter what your press releases say. What matters is the real life experience of parents all over this country and all over the world. And that experience is, that we took our healthy, bright babies into a doctor's office for routine vaccinations and watched our precious children regressed physically, mentally and emotionally and be left autistic, hyperactive, learning disabled, epileptic, asthmatic and suffering with other brain and immune system disorders.
We trusted you and you betrayed our trust.
And that is why we are here today. And that is why we are not going away until the last vaccine on the last shelf in the last doctor's office is mercury free. And we are not going away until you do the credible scientific research that will tell us why and how vaccines can injure and kill and who is at high risk. And we are not going away until we know we can trust that what you tell us about vaccines is the truth.

CRIMES AT THE CDC

A new study published today (3/1/06) shows that the rate of neurodevelopmental disorders (NDs) in children has decreased following removal of thimerosal, a preservative containing the neurotoxin mercury, from American childhood vaccines. The study, published in the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons, a peer reviewed journal, by Dr. Mark Geier and David Geier examined two independent databases maintained by the government - one national and one state. The Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS) database maintained by the Centers for Disease Control and the Californian Department of Developmental Services (CDDS) database each showed the same downward trend for the period from 2002 through 2005. According to the study "[t]he results indicate that the trends in newly diagnosed NDs correspond directly with the expansion and subsequent contraction of the cumulative mercury dose to which children were exposed from [thimerosal-containing vaccines] through the U.S. immunization schedule." Also today Robert F. Kennedy Jr. published some devastating evidence that implicated the CDC in a terrible scandal in regards to the unnecessary injection of millions of children with thimerosal. Correspondence newly obtained under the Freedom of Information Act reveals a medical monstrocity made manifest at the very center of the medical world. Soon after the CDC in July 1999 recommended that the nation's vaccine makers eliminate Thimerosal as a preservative, "as soon as possible," they themselves (the CDC) secretly discouraged Thimerosal's removal in effect deliberately exposing millions of infants to continued mercury poisoning.
According to Kennedy, in a July 1999 letter, vaccine producer SmithKline Beecham tells CDC that it is ready to produce non-Thimerosal DTP (Diptheria/Tetanus/Pertussis) vaccines immediately and has sufficient inventories to supply the entire U.S. market during the remainder of 1999 and the first half of 2000, by which time other vaccine manufacturers would have their Thimerosal-free DTP vaccines on line. Thimerosal-laden DTP vaccines containing 25 micrograms of mercury apiece (75 thousand trillion atoms of mercury) were then being administered to American infants at two months, four months and six months -- far exceeding EPA's recommended safe level for mercury. Kennedy continued, “However, in November, CDC mysteriously sent a letter back rejecting SmithKline's offer. Then, on July 14, 2000 CDC published a deceptive press release promising to require that all vaccines be Thimerosal-free as soon as "adequate supplies are available." This was a full 12 months after the agency had denied SmithKline's proposal.”
The CDC has allowed an entire generation of children to be injured.

"And I don't think they wanted to send that message to parents, the public or those considering legal action." "There was also concern," says the federal official, "that an immediate withdrawal might discredit the international vaccine programs for which CDC is an important partner."
Will the CDC get away with this crime? Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. today joined Advocates for Children Health Affected by Mercury Poisoning (A-CHAMP), in demanding Senate investigations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) actions in obstruction of rapid removal of mercury from childrens vaccines.
One can only experience a deep indignation knowing that CDC officials knowingly exposed millions of kids to neurological poisons AFTER it was announced in 1999 that children were being exposed to ILLEGAL and very dangerous amounts of mercury via the childhood immunization program. For anyone to extend this disasterous mistake a day longer than necessary is both a tragedy and a serious crime.

The CDC childhood immunization department should be hauled before a Nuremberg type investigation and YES have the entire world's childhood immunization program dragged through the mud. What is the difference between a Nazi doctor injecting toxic substances in humans at the concentration camps and the CDC deciding it was ok to leave in mecury in the vaccines when it did not have to? And now the CDC’s decision to reintroduce mercury bearing thimerosal flu vaccines in 2004 to six month old babies takes on new meaning. It is devastating to the medical profession to have to admit that we are trusting the wrong people with the care of our children.
The evidence of harm is conclusive; these documents are evidence of crimes against humanity, crimes against the children, crimes that will be remembered for many years. Officals at the CDC at a minimum have displayed a lack of knowledge, skill, and judgment. They have shown inconceivable disregard for the welfare of the public and have demonstrated that they are unfit to continue their medical responsibilities to the nation and the world. They are guilty of professional misconduct and have disgraced, dishonoured and corrupted the medical and scientific communities.

Kennedy also reported that “The World Health Organization has urged CDC against the banning of Thimerosal in U.S. vaccines since that prohibition might discredit WHO's third world inoculation programs. WHO, with U.S. funding, is now injecting children in developing countries with the same amounts of Thimerosal we were giving American kids at their highest exposures, but in a shorter time period.” Here in Brazil, where I am writing from, the information blackout is complete about these subjects. Not even the doctors here have knowledge about the mercury in the vaccines and the grave danger they are putting kids in.
We now know who the real terrorists are in the world but will we spend billions and start wars to eradicate them from existence? Thimerosals presence in childhood vaccines represents a true weapon of mass destruction. How is it that President Bush had no intelligence on this weapon already trained on the younglings of his own nation? Could it be his familes deep intimacy and history with the Eli Lilly Company has clouded his vision? Eli Lilly is the company that developed Thimerosal in 1929 and lied about its safety ever since.
The list of scandals is a long one and nothing fundamental seems to be changing. Eli Lilly also introduced genetically modified insulin for diabetes use after only 3 months of clinical trials without long term safety profiles. FDA colluded in the approval, and many were harmed. Add the Baycol story to the list, the antidepressants, statins, vaccines, and the list of wrongs goes on and on. More recently, Vioxx has proven to be deadly yet the pharmaceutical company covered up allowing people to continue to take it and die.
Yet we sit quietly by, or remain mired in the "correct" manner of complaining. And they get away with murder over and over again. Without consequence, without liability they get away with it. And we find each of the regulatory agencies protecting each other instead of the public. The CDC, FDA, medical professionals, even Congress is involved with allowing medicine to turn away from its basic principle of doing no harm.
And why do we the public allow this to happen, allow this to continue, despite the evidence that is given to us by the media and whistleblowers who sometimes tell the sordid truth? Congressional investigations are called for, but where will it all go? Is there something inside us, buried deep that prevents us from taking action? Some long buried conditioning that we can't go against? Some fear of retribution from the powers that seem to hold such an ax over our heads and our bodies if we dissent too loudly?

It's alot more fun if you "mad lib" the word Thimerosal with Arsenic in the above article. lol. For instance:

Anyway you would be nuts to get a vaccine today with these people putting god knows what in them. It's bad enough that I got mercury fillings in my mouth when I was in my early teens. Haven't been to a dentist in over 10 years, I clean my own teeth now and have no problems. |
