Anonymous Coward User ID: 72006357 Brazil 04/12/2016 08:48 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Why? All companies that provides internet also provide cable tv. But is a shitty and expensive service. When Netflix become official in Brazil, the cable tv lost around 20 milion customers on that year. The cable company have tried to talk to our government to see if they can raise the taxes on netflix, but that would be illegal, so they are doing this to hurt stream services. Capitalism here is bullshit, look Uber, taxists are hunting down the Uber people in here, because they are destroing the taxi mafia. Now they are going to stream services. This country is a joke. Closed market only do this, companies afraid of market competition, and who end up fucked is us the people |

Closed market only do this, companies afraid of market competition, and who end up fucked is us the people Well, it's pretty clear this is not happening here because of capitalism, but because of the government influence. In an open economy, if an internet company limits the internet traffic for its users, it will most likey lose customers, who will migrate to a company that does not offer such limitation. But here in Brazil, we have an aberration named ANATEL, a government regulation agency, witch limitis this market to only a few companies. And all of them will limit the internet traffic for the users. ALL OF THEM !! So, thanks to the government, we will have nowhere to go in 2017. Our only 2 choices will be living without internet in your home, or paying for a terrible quality service. So yeah, government and liberty are enemies to each other. |

rekinom8 User ID: 72019167 Germany 04/13/2016 05:06 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Which is what happened in Germany, once the carriers tried to push those limits they all got sued for contract violations and lost. That having said, common sense is applied so now we have some with limits and some without. I'm on 16Mb/s line, 25Euro, unlimited traffic. A small calculation, say you have an someone using the internet to check emails, which is a couple of megabytes per month. Now you have those fancy HD intenetTV services which send signals in the range of 8Mb/s. 8Mb/s=1Megabyte/s= 84 Gigabyte/month just for TV. And then you have all the pirates consuming just the same. Traffic capacity doesn't grow on trees people. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 72006357 Brazil 04/13/2016 06:44 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This is less of a conspiracy and more a technical consequence. With more people starting downloading stuff the existing infrastructure can't support it anymore. Upgrading infrastructure costs money, any carrier attempting it straight away will have to raise the costs, which will drive users away, meaning bankruptcy. Not to say they aren't even allowed to raise the costs, because it is set in the contract. So the alternative is to limit traffic. Which is actually also set in the contract! Traffic capacity doesn't grow on trees people. Cute, but I can guess that people with access to the internet in Germoney is about 80% at least? In that case is a logical response do afunilate traffic so every one could use. But here in the jungle less then 40% of brazilians have access to the internet, so this kind of manouver played by the companies are just a way to fuck us |
