This is such a terrible tragedy. My heart goes out to this man and all the others who have suffered.

My former neighbor has an autistic son, but somewhat functional. It is a terrible burden, as he can injure himself so easily, even in his late teens had to be watched like a toddler.

This is as serious a threat to the living as the long-ago problem from giving pregnant women Thalidomide, which often cut off the limbs of their babies. Used to see grown people in wheel chairs with hands coming out of their shoulders and some such, when I was little.

Some of these damaged kids are messed up for life by very serious effects.

Most kids,maybe even almost all of them, show no immidiate lasting effects.

But how are these kids if it comes to general health?

Why are there so many children with cancer,a disease that didn't effect children 50 years ago,like autism was 1:25.000 in 1960's,now it's 1:88 and rising.

What about around a hundred young women hit by narcolepsy in Finland,Denmark and Ireland after a Gardasil vaccinedrive last year?

This must be an American problem. In my 33 years I have never encountered someone with autism. Vaccines are mandatory here to attend school. Everyobe I have ever known has been vaccinated for the same things as Americans.

Oh, they have the same 'autism epidemic' up here too. Just that I've also had people I know who work in the education system tell me privately that genuine cases are still very rare. In earlier decades, autism was much more along the lines of what you saw in the movie Rainman. It was believed to be a genetic disorder of some kind, and marked by severe communication problems, obsessively repetitive behaviour well outside the norm, and sometimes mental retardation. They also had what was called "high functioning" autism, and those victims were often highly intelligent. Idiot savants aren't uncommon in their ranks either.

Because there's gummint cheese up for grabs, it gets over-diagnosed pretty significantly. They also tell me they're pretty sure inept parenting is behind most cases as well - either bad diet, bad habits, too much time in front of TV or computer screens messing with their developing brains, not enough proper socializing, that kind of thing. Vaccines? That they seriously doubt. They also say much of what people call autism now was called ADHD in the nineties, and prior to that, simply a badly-behaved kid.

Children are born autistic. Not saying those vaccines are good but come on already.

I have 2 autistic sons. Did not do the vaccines, but when I was pregnant I had to take antibiotics because I had a flu. I have other kids, did not take the antibiotics, and they are not autistic.
