Sad. What is sad is your interpretation. And your leap to assuming the OP is the author. This is merely a list of things that are worth living up to. I see someone already took issue with drinking whiskey and eating red meat. No problem. What about the rest of them? "work with your hands and develop a trade" I take that to mean work with your hands. It means the link between your brain and your hands that results in building something, fixing something or creating something. It doesn't say your profession must be working with your hands. develop a trade is good advice for anyone. This means that no matter what your work is, it is always good to have a real honest more than superficial knowledge of something that exists in the real world.
