Re: Are we approaching tornado doom?
looking at tor-cons in the 5-7 range tomorrow. definetly gonna be a great day to storm chase.
long lived/long track violent tornadoes are to be expected.

everyone in Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, north texas, miss, louisianna, Alabama, tennesee, Kentucky... should be watching the models all week.

for live streaming storm chasers, you can try tvnweather.com
or severestudios.com

WICHITA KS

Local news has been talking about this front since last Friday. Today they changed the risk from Elevated to Severe with up so SOFTBALL-sized hail possible in some areas and very high winds and a moderate to strong possibility of Tornado activity.

They're still keeping it fairly low-key, but there is clearly an intensity in their message.

First rain here in Wichita is forecast for as early as 2pm tomorrow with storm intensity building all afternoon, evening and into the night with possible clearing after midnight.

Just look out for where the storm chasers are heading and if you live there go into your basement.
[link to www.tvnweather.com]

Check it out. Click the red dots, that's where each storm chaser is mobile streaming from. You can watch all the action live as it happens.

Sometimes when nothing is on TV, I sit and watch the stormchasers.

L
Warning though, lots of rednecks with potty mouths stormchase on the live stream.

Re: Are we approaching tornado doom?
TORNADO ALLEY TIP: If large hail is predicted for your area a cracked/broken windshield can be an expensive reality if you don't have a garage. After a major storm most installers will also be backed up for several days.

A simple solution for exposed cars is a cheap Vinyl Air Mattress. You blow it up about 1/2 way and secure each end by closing your front car doors on them. Of course: if you drive a big sedan or an SUV, you probably also have insurance to pay the $400-800 it'll cost to replace a windshield!

Wouldn't it be a good idea to wear a helmet in addition to being in a closet or tornado shelter? I hear so much about people getting hit by debris.

That's not a bad idea. Safety googles could help as well.

Re: Are we approaching tornado doom?
I live in Oklahoma and the bad storms are suppose to go through my area around 7 pm CST on 4/26/16. What's worse is I have to work during that time. Should be a tenuous situation, since my work place has a flat metal roof...

Last time this happened, Norman got flattened. That night they finally closed the store down as witches fingers and tornado's were coming out of the sky all over the place. It was a wild ride home too....

I'm in Oklahoma City and its supposed to hit at 4pm. Some schools have already closed because it's at the time they would be heading home.
I have a shelter, but I'm worried about hail. Hail the size of baseballs is expected and that will punch holes in a roof.
