I have a 7 year old that is terrified of spiders. So this will not be fun if we have to go down there, although it's extremely clean at this point. The handle on it was quite rusty, so we had to lube it to get it unstuck. Aside from my three kids, we're likely to have grandparents here, and my sister in law and niece. So that makes 9 people we gotta fit into a shelter. We've done it before. I've stocked up on crayons, tablets, and snacks just in case. Not to mention the already numerous amount of canned goods down there already. We were in Missouri during the Joplin Tornado, so I'm not taking any chances. My husband actually worked in Joplin, but I made him stay home that day because I was scared, and I saved his life, his building was destroyed. So, always follow your instincts on this stuff. My kids are home with me all day, and I've cancelled all appointments because driving is the worst thing you can do if you aren't a trained spotter. I even went as far as taking trained spotter courses this year with the NWS. Lucky for us, we live on a hill and get a good view of all incoming storms from the west and Northwest. For some reason we've been extremely lucky and all have gone north of us, or broken apart. We call the land Prayer Hill, because of the luck we have with storms. I'm not banking on it though. I'd rather pray in a shelter, than pray outside of one. My father in-law and Mother in-law however seem to think they'll just get swept off in a whirlwind like Elijah, and they have no fear. Not quite the same thing, as Elijah's whirlwind didn't have sharp debris! |

I use them to see the storms in my surrounding areas. It's always kind of scary when all the storm chasers are in your hood, cause then you know it's about to get real. |

The streams are not very stable atm. They lag, drop out all the time and the chasers are actually driving away from where the heavy rain is atm for some funny reason. |

It is for life saving and sorry it is entertaining as well. Hoping for no death but some serious destructive tornado is always cool to watch. It's nature nothing you can do so might as well enjoy it. |

I don't enjoy seeing someone elses home becoming wings... Doesn't matter if the family is safe. I don't enjoy seeing a high death toll in some massive earthquake. Not at all. Only a psycho would. But its the events themselves that can be somewhat interesting to follow. Thats it. I really hope we can learn things from videos, info and all that so that our futures are safer. |

I seen that about an hour ago in OKC. [link to radar.weather.gov] Look at the conus loop Then see where it is going to form, then BAM it does. [link to www.intellicast.com] All morning it was nothing, then it was clouds out of no where, then BAM the storm started forming before my eyes. I hate to call it supernatural, but something weird is happening with the weather. |

They had a tornado wich was greater than an F5 hit downtown Dallas in a simulation. Pretty scary! I live in Houston now but when I was 15 I lived not too far from where the Rowlett Tornado touched down a couple of months ago. Also had a small twister hit where a mall was being built about 1 mile from where I lived back in 1981 or so. An F3 hit about 2 miles from where I live now back in 1994. Made the national news. I am praying for the people affected today. |

Once they hit it they explode in the unstable air. That's why you don't really see twisters in the morning. Not hot enough. They usually fire up after 3pm. |

Dallas is supposed to see the worst of it tonight. My cousin and her husband got the big hail a couple of weeks ago. Totaled their roof and his truck. Softball size. |

You can search for the area of interest and move your mouse over that area and click, it will change the window to that local radar and from here you can zoom in more. It shows all warnings and watches boxed areas. It is pretty cool. Check it out yourself. [link to radar.weather.gov] |
