Madcap inventor designs bizarre ‘human blender’ hoverbike (VIDEO)
Lincolnshire plumber, garage inventor and YouTuber Colin Furze has built an actual working hoverbike - an "unhinged flying bike/human blender [that] unbelievably gets off the ground and actually FLIES," as Furze puts it.

Furze's YouTube video, which shows his attempt at flying the bike, was posted on Thursday and has already been viewed nearly 1.7m times in less than 24 hours.

The self-taught engineer, who features on the Sky 1 program Gadget Geeks, built the contraption in his garage.

It has no brake or seat, but has two accelerators and can be steered. As he says in the video, Furze has no formal engineering qualifications and has never flown before, which makes the feat all the more heart-stopping.

With emerging 3D printing tech and printable composites it wont be long that they can build something much more powerful. The main roadblock are the auto and airline companies

He needs to redesign it so it's more horizontally stable and add more protection from the blades.

Something more umbrella shaped where he's underneath as the weight might be better.

You could have the engine built into a small platform that you stand on with a power shaft running straight up turning a single larger propeller. The cowling around the propeller should be able funnel some of the air against the turn of the propeller otherwise it would spin.

Watching the montage of other things he does, he will he lucky not to kill himself at some point, that is for sure.

It is cool that he built it himself, but he literally almost crashes it at one point and jumps away. The blades are far too exposed and he might actually end up cutting his damn head off when he crashes it and goes face first over the handle bars. For Gods sake make it at least semi safe.

He added blade protection, but he had to remove it because of the extra weight.

Yeah, the front rotor is especially worrying, if it hits the ground, forces will be applied. But he has some balls to design and then actually fly that thing.

He's trading weight savings for safety. Also, the frame is not balanced, because he had to turn one engine upside down to counter the torque of the other engine.

it's not actually very good. he can't even put a seat or more fuel on it, or it won't fly at all.

Well some of those early plane flew and it is strange to see a barrel plane fly but it did. I follow the other videos of other plane that actually flew. Some would make good start designs for low flyer for car type. Some looked like bubble bees. Some were funny flops but the ones that flew were surprising and I think part of their designs have made it to planes today.

That thing looks so dangerous and unstable . And it looks like hes riding two giant rotating fans. The kind that circulates air in a big building.

I was expecting a ionized plasmic superconductor using magnetic levitation. When someone invents that, then they invented a UFO. Wake me up when thats a demo

needs to run tubes inside main tube to handle bars attached at both ends to each motor, which would be mounted so they can pivot-via his handle bar.

when he pushes bar forward both motors tilt forward and same as he pushes back both motors tilt back , each motor mounted on pivots and not welded to frame.

also sideways movement of handle bar in both directions will control his machine.

see worlds smallest helicopter for pivot and control
title
Worlds smallest One-man Helicopter GEN H-4 by ADEYTO - YouTube

also must redesign frame so that because one motor is flipped upside down to get counter rotation , both motors are still horizontal with each other. meaning not so much bend in his frame.

good job, and cover top blades fibre glass protect the body.

awesome job.
