There is a special type of agate used for dying as it has numerous bands that can absorb the dye to hold the color. Think bands and absorbtion with atmosphere or micro too.
For most colors it is by submerging in a solution and then charging the agate positive and solution negative. Similar to electroplating metals.
When finished dying, it is placed in sand and slowly heated for a long time and when furnace is turned off the sand slowly cools it. That way it avoids cracking. And then goes through a washing.

Reds don't have to be dyed but just heated because of the natural iron in the mineral.

Had a funny experience with a lizard or gecko today. It came halfway towards me and starts sticking it's head up and it's throat was going like it was calling or tasting the air. It did that s few times and then comes right towards me and under me to past me into the brush behind. I guess I was in its path lol

I saw that vid you posted on m'whirled of an area back in those days. many happy stories from my mom and dad of those earlier times when things seemed so much more magical and simple in a good way, not to mention less crowded and uncluttered. maybe I look at it with rose tinted lenses I don't know, but things felt so much different as a child. things have definitely been changed, altered, and not in a good way. but we will return or are .. already .. to that state and then move far beyond to where we really belong. it is natural, of universal nature, .... of us - where 'us' seems a very broad statement but is not when seen from all angles which are permanently intertwined together, - knowing 'we' came 'here' willfully with a plan, a task, to regain perspective on the angle of 'all', maybe just not realizing the true 'depths' of perspective to which we would have to sink in order to regain what was perceived as lost.

about the vid - wondered why those dates. was it then, after, that you made the trek. for me the seventies felt really special, a very creative time in the music world certainly, but the early eighties were some of my most life altering times.
would love to reconnect with some people around at the time.

lighten up. stand up. get off your knees - unless of course you are merely kneeling to pray, or to pick something up. or pet a small lizard that tried to run up your leg but was frightened away into the bushes for some reason lol.
maybe it got confused and saw another leg.

My feet were never on the ground but did have a dream of a same color vehicle with words on the side as the lizard. This vehicle drove past on a road in dream to its store into a garage to drop the driver off and when the vehicle was pulled out by a machine, it shifted apart like a transformer to see inside. I'm sure I was by its trail path. It went under a human bridge as my feet were near the brush, no telling a its dream of me lol

I had an encounter with a little green lizard Monday at my new apt on the patio it actually started coming towards me as if It had something to say and we stared at each other for quite some time., and then yesterday morning was greeted by a double rainbow in the morning at 07:07 am... That is oddly elemental. The jehovah stuff was gone but the white mask was still there. It had a tie dye holder wrap which thought was interesting since dye has been a theme a bit.
