Got a letter from the energy company telling me they were going to put one on my home.
I put a huge padlock on the box the next day.
Haven't heard from them yet/since.

I was at work he's at home until 2 pm when he leaves for work.

They either had to go thru our fence or come thru our home to install the meter. The fence has to be opened from the inside.

Good thing it wasn't a dumb meter....

She just said she told him as well as the electric Co. no smart meter. I said the same thing. They are picking homes to put these things on randomly. I found them in my neighborhood and went to all the neighbors to tell them what was happening. When they brought my meter out to install I told the installer to take the meter back to the office. He said ok, he only installed them. I have done battle with the electric co. twice now and made one little girl really mad. They have been taught a canned speech and I was quoting "Stop the Crime" to her. So far so good. It has been several months. They were complaining they would have to send a special reader to the house. I said I did not care! I offered to read the meter myself and call the numbers in or photograph it .... or let them see the damn thing through the Skype on my computer ... but they were not putting it on the house. I wonder if it will make a difference if the whole neighborhood has them.

How many of these smart meters have been made? Honestly..

It would be much better if it were a dumb meter. What we have is fine. I figure they will just do it when they get all those new towers up. They are putting them about a quarter of a mile apart. In time they will see into your home and hear every word whispered.

They intend them for the whole world.

People will come up with stuff to block them.

if it was me, I would go out there with a roll of heavy-duty tinfoil, and wrap that meter up like a xmas toy - about six layers deep (all facing inward) ... to avoid having my name put on a "non-compliance" list or destroying their property

You have to take the meter regardless(eventually..). In Canada almost all places have one. If you fight to not have it they will simply deny you the hydro service.

Can someone give me the 411 on these smart meters? I guess I have never heard of them and don't know what their real purpose is. What is wrong with the current meters we have today? Why are these smart meters bad? I'm just trying to learn

I know they can read them, and shut your power off from head office.
But I'm not sure of the "Doom" effect they have...

Sometimes I wonder What makes many people so comfortable with using smartphones but so concerned with the health dangers and privacy details of smart meters? Rationally speaking, it seems to me that using a smartphone involves at least as much of a health and privacy risk as having a smart meter installed on the side of your house; the phone can track where you are, who you text, when you make a call, what websites you visit, and moreall while bombarding your head with powerful cellular radio waves. Yet many people who are willing to overlook these concerns with a phone become simultaneously obsessed with fears over smart meters.

Yes, I have a smart phone but its required for my job.

My locator app is turned off. I only use data when I have to look things up for a customer that is asking me when a book is coming out. (I put out books at 3 Walmarts here in central Iowa)

You may have to get nasty with the electric company. Some of the smart meters are broadband and they will tell you you have nothing to worry about and you are crazy for wanting it removed. Which is total BS! I knew I felt like crap, had a dull headache, suffered from excessive thirst but couldn't stop peeing all the time, could always hear what sounded like crickets at night even in the dead of winter but what finally got me to exploring all the health problems was the nose bleeds which I never had before. Yes, nose bleeds! When your body is constantly pounded with radiation for a continued time your body stops making and pumping nitric oxide through your veins and they shrink.

My home has 3 phase electricity coming in (3 transformers outside on the pole), enough power for a small factory. The smart meter runs off the power coming into the meter and the electricity must be stepped down with a switching mode power supply, much like the box on the cord of any laptop, or it would fry the meter. Then the power must be stepped back up. With the 3 phase that's lots of power to bring step down and take back up. The electricity is no longer flowing steadily. That's when you get the "dirty electricity" or RADIATION coming off all the wiring in your home! A good test is to put a couple of long (15 foot or more) RCA cables together running them along the walls of your home as for as they will reach from your audio receiver, connect to your audio receiver with an audio filter and then connect to your laptop or iPod. If the music is dissorted, crackly, buzzing or you're hearing popping noises the RCA cable is picking up the dirty electricity and overwhelming the filter. Gather up the cables and get close to the receiver with the cables shielded best you can, away from walls with wiring and then listen for anything like the popping or buzzing. You might want to do this in reverse order to hear the full effects and not blow out the filter in the beginning.
If you think you have a problem then buy one of the hand held Trifield EMF meters and get readings from your home and places that don't have smart meters and compare.

If you suspect any problems- you're getting the headaches and such, flip off the breakers to the bedrooms at night. Yes, use flashlights, things like wind up clocks or your already powered up cell phone (in airplane mode) for alarms. Flip off all the breakers you can with exception to things like the fridge and HVAC if weather permits. It will be a bitch but until you get the electric company to switch it out you will need to, or feel like crap. Just sitting outside barefoot in the grass, away from any underground or overhead power lines will help also.

If they are threatening you with a smart meter it would be a great idea to get a Trifield EMF meter and get readings BEFORE the meter is put on the house!

Now I pull out my EMF meter whenever we are getting hit by EMF from the sun just to see how bad it is. There have been times when I thought for sure, hearing the EMF, they had put the smart meter back on and when I walk outside with the meter the levels are just as high outside as inside.

And BTW, my meter was broadband and not even on the house! It was on a pole about 40 yards from the house and I still had all the problems I listed above!

Like someone else said there are a stack of videos on U Tube about how to avoid the worst effects of these evil meters. Also keep a close eye on your power bill, all the best.
