It's like college, guys. You pay as much as you can for your undergrad degree. Then, when you go to grad school, you get student loans. Most people can't afford out of pocket higher level degrees.

I don't think that Trump needing financial help to win the general election is necessarily wrong, and he is to be commended on making it this far on his own.

However, Politifact noted in February that Trump’s campaign was never entirely self-funded, noting that of the $19.4 million that his campaign took in at the end of 2015, roughly $6.4 million came from small donations. Politifact noted that at the time, the only other candidates besides Donald Trump who were giving money to their own campaigns were retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, who gave $25,000 to his campaign; former secretary of state Hillary Clinton, who gave over $360,000, and former Florida governor Jeb Bush, who gave over $380,000.
Politifact also found that even while Trump claimed to be self-funding, the official Trump campaign website had a “Donate” button and for a time in 2015, his campaign received more money from donations that it did from Trump.

It's the reason there was such a DIVIDE between Trump and the RNC. Remember the meeting last week or so Trump had with Preibus? This agreement was reached then, when the handwriting on the wall got clearer and clearer. HE NEEDED THEIR SUPPORT in the form of NOT FIGHTING AGAINST HIM. They - OBVIOUSLY - need him.

READ carefully: They were *NOT* going to back him because he WAS NOT raising money for the RNC.

Now he HAS agreed to solicit funds from his followers....so now everyone dropped out, one by one. So he comes along and says he "needs money" to pay for his anti-Hillary campaign.

I see this as his NOT totally understanding what their beef with him was, and now he "gets it" and now will play along with this. HE KNOWS his name recognition alone will bring in big dollars, and THEY KNOW IT TOO.

THe money will go to the RNC. THEY WILL USE IT TO PUT OTHER REPBS IN OFFICE. IT ISN'T *HIS* TO SPEND TOTALLY, and I suspect he will use little of it. But it's there for the spending - TO WIN THIS ELECTION - in every race.

What does he get in return? They put their whole party backing behind him, and "encourage" all Repubs to vote for him as "their best candidate."

Gathering money for the party means less of his own money being used during rallies, etc. And also, the republican party's support for him increases.
