Methodist clergy come out as 'gay' in defiance of church ban
Dozens of homosexual and lesbian clergy members – 111 of them, to be exact – signed on to a letter that protests the United Methodist’s ban on LGBTs serving in ministry positions, daring their church leaders to discipline them.

“While some of us have been lucky to serve in places where we could serve honestly and openly, there are others in places far more hostile, who continue to serve faithfully even at tremendous cost to themselves, their families and yes, even the communities they serve, who do not receive the fullness of their pastor’s gifts because a core part must remain hidden,” the “Love Letter To Our Church From Your LGBTQI Religious Leaders” states, in part.

The ‘Stop Hillary’ campaign is on fire! Join the surging response to this theme: ‘Clinton for prosecution, not president’

It comes just a day before the United Methodist Church, which is the largest Protestant denomination in the country, is due to kick off its General Conference in Portland, Oregon, running this year from May 10 through May 20.

There, 800-plus delegates will discuss church policies – and whether to overturn a long-standing ban against LGBTs serving as ministers and another barring same-sex marriages from being performed by Methodist leaders. Specifically, the United Methodists’ Book of Discipline states all people have “sacred worth” but “the practice of homosexuality” is “incompatible with Christian teaching,” CNN said.

Rev. Laura Young, a lesbian pastor from Ohio, age 48 and the mother of two, said she’s happy she signed the letter.

They must've ripped out Romans 1 from their bibles to accommodate the abominable lifestyles and think God isn't watching, He will not be mocked!

Yep. These people have been defying God's law, and the laws of the church they purport to serve for years, and now, they're playing the victim card. Every single one of them should be defrocked immediately in a church court, but they think they're about to get the rules changed, so they are now becoming bolder.

As a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, I am so glad that this is finally coming to a head. We have been living with these infiltrators in our Church my whole life, and most of the lay membership has no idea.

If you're gay and you want to be a pastor, or you're a pastor and want to marry gays to each other, it really might have been a good idea not to go to divinity school for an organization that doesn't approve, not join it and try to overturn Biblical law and two millennia of tradition because you disagree with God.

This is most likely going to cause a split in the Church, and I'm fine with that. The 80% of our pastors who think this is okay can preside over empty sanctuaries while the 20% of our traditionalist pastors can break off and a new denomination that adheres to John and Charles Wesleys' theology.

Totally agree, and it's gonna be a catastrophe for the Church, but it will most likely give birth to a new denomination that doesn't give its blessing to sinful unions and ordinations.

Re: Methodist clergy come out as 'gay' in defiance of church ban
I've been a United Methodist for over 30 years and this issue has already caused division within my church.
Unfortunately, we are located near the renegade Church of Frank Schaeffer (google his name for more info) and we've been dealing with the aftermath ever since!
I've spoken with my Church leadership concerning this issue and depending on this weeks outcome, I maybe finding a new Church.

Our leftist pastor made a point to tell us not to listen to whatever spin Fox News is gonna put on the General Conference last Sunday. Never mind that this is not an issue that requires spin from the people that are on the side of the Bible and 2000 years of history. He pastors a congregation that is overwhelmingly 60+, and he's about to lose the whole church if they do what I think they're gonna do. And rightly so.
