Quoting: proo666 70158127 Im 58 and white male, also an MD and Computer programmer. BS to both your statements. I couldnt get a residency after med school ( 1998 ) even though I graduated top of my class ( residencies were only hiring Muslims and Hindus and this was nationwide ; I couldnt even get a residency cleaning toilets even in post match). I gave up a computer career when the entire industry was off shored in the 1990's. Companies like Wang, DEC and other giants just disappeared overnight. Past 45 yrs old, hang it up. I went back to school 5 years ago to become a Registered Dietician and the Dept Head pulled me aside and told me that I would have difficulty getting any type of job ( I thanked her from wasting more tuition money I didnt have ). This is depressing Truth Hurts. I know several 55+ females in the same boat, even a 26 year old with a bachelor degree and no takers. Must be foreign or severely minority to apply. Donald Trump will change everything if he wins! The TRUMP |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 44507429 United States 07/02/2016 01:15 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | 35 white male here. I live in a very diverse urban area and everywhere I apply is only hiring women, gays and minorities. It's so depressing. I speak well, no tattoos or piercings, and yet places around bere would rather hire a young Latina with tattoos all over who can barely speak English. I guess I need to go out into a rural area for employment. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 70166106 United States 07/29/2016 03:25 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm not sure I buy into the whole older white men can't find a job thing anymore. It really depends on your skill set. If you are unskilled then yes. However, doctors are in extremely high demand. No problem for a qualified white male finding a job there. And I know a 55 year old white, male computer programmer who was recently laid off from his job of 25 years due to downsizing. He immediately landed an excellent job. Anonymous Coward User ID: 71431482 Finland 07/29/2016 03:27 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | corporate America is pointless once you get beyond a certain age. They don't want to pay for our knowledge/experience and they don't want to pay for our impending medical problems. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 56232949 It's not just an American phenomenon, you know. Lose your job at 40 or over and you're royally screwed. The corporations don't want knowledge and skills. They want people who are young, dumb and full of cum. People who'll do anything to climb the corporate ladder. People who can be molded to whatever image the company needs and who don't have children, yet. People who don't complain about being required to do unpaid overtime, being on call 24/7, or accepting arbitrary reductions in pay just to stay onboard. |
