That is one reason why Nate Silver at 538 has been "off". He called the electoral map almost perfectly in 2008 and 2012. This year, not so much. The fundamental systemic error is that polls cannot account for new voters accurately. They can only poll people who are already on lists of registered voters etc. They also have a significant blind spot for people who only use cell phones. This election will be a Trump landslide. Increased voter turnout will benefit Trump. Everyone will be engaged once the conventions and especially the debates are held. |
