Injured Dog Dubbed 'Freeway Frida' Rescued After Five Weeks On California Highway

A German Shepard that spent five weeks wandering down the median of a California highway has finally been rescued.

Local police received dozens of calls about the dog, dubbed “Freeway Frida” by locals, which fell from a pickup truck on Highway 99 in Galt, according to KCRA.

Frida endured the spring heat as she evaded police on the center median and it's unclear how she managed to survive in the elements. The thick oleander bushes on the median provided covering that made finding the dehydrated dog difficult, but authorities believe she may have scavenged for what food she could find and stayed alive by drinking rainwater.
