CDC: "Thousands" of people may have arrived in U.S. with Zika

Approximately 500 people in the U.S. were found to have likely been infected with Zika. However, since 80 percent of people with a Zika infection do not show symptoms, she estimated that thousands may have arrived in the U.S. unaware they were infected with the virus and were potentially able to start a local outbreak through the mosquito population.

The way I see it is there are too many unknowns with this virus (that is scary itself), but the things they do know (particularly infant deformities) are quite alarming. Especially if it (Zika) spreads globally.

Well, I agree that the news about birth defects is alarming, but...forgetting the broad media coverage and just looking at how it's actually being handled has my BS meter up.

I don't really see governments panicking as I would expect, if you know what I mean. I see some mosquito spraying in Central America, but does that not happen annually?

Now I see Obama trying to reclaim that earmarked 3b0la money for Zika, and when Congress denied his request, he gave 25% of that money away to the U.N.'s climate initiatives.

Weird for such a public healthcare crisis.

I don't buy the whole zika virus thing as advertised, yes it's real but not what they're saying.

It seems like they are getting ready for it. I was browsing job listings and came across these positions that are being filled under the "Zika hiring initiative".

In the first one it says "Vacancies will be filled through OPM's Direct Hire Authority in direct support of Zika Virus Public Health Emergency.".

So.. They are considering it a public health emergency now and are getting the staff in place in preparation.

I bought it all too Fret. The difference is, the Govt. was all in with 3bola. They even (very publicly) appointed a Czar etc...

This Zika stuff is only being quietly discussed, or not even at all. That gets me wondering...why? Even here on GLP, no one talks much about it. There is little media. Why not?
