So you're saying Mona Lisa was Chinese?

And Da Vinci didn't get the eyes right?

When Mona saw the Transmission

35
493

The life and death of Mona Lisa on the Moon ."The Alterwelt Chronicles". . 32,000 years in the making!!!!

When Mona saw the encrypted images she almost lost her breakfast. The first image was expected, it was the land mark on Ceres normally used to establish alignment and orbital synchrony with the enormous asteroid. However, it was the second image that shocked Mona.

It appeared to be a target grid laid over the central plane of a well known crater on the far side of the Moon. There was also another overlay in blue on some feature . . . she could only guess its purpose.

Mona immediately wondered if her parents may know something about this image

Never-the-less, Mona had to be on cloud nine, not since the Gold Medal Ceremony at the World Games had she approached such heights of accomplished recognition. At barely over 200 years of age Mona had just become the youngest official captain of an off world ship of any size or mission. If only she felt happy about this phenomenal accomplishment; however, all she could feel was nauseating apprehension. (To be Continued)

That Odor Again

The life and death of Mona Lisa on the Moon ."The Alterwelt Chronicles". . 32,000 years in the making!!!!

Mona settled her stomach and cleared her mind but before she could logically proceed to her next plan of action . . . lightning flashed through her optic nerve and that all familiar odor overwhelmed her other senses. What she saw next was more disturbing than any since that night hiking in the wilderness. (To be Continued)

Zeeman Crater

The life and death of Mona Lisa on the Moon ."The Alterwelt Chronicles". . 32,000 years in the making!!!!

As Mona was recovering from the image exploding in her brain, another transmission from her parents flashed on her console. This time there was no voice message only a encoded image file. Mona slowly opened the image file. What she found astonished her. Another image of the Zeeman Crater on the far side of the Moon, but this time it was a time lapsed comparison. (To be Continued)

The life and death of Mona Lisa on the Moon ."The Alterwelt Chronicles". . 32,000 years in the making!!!!

Mona thought, I dare not communicate with my parents about the image just received. They obviously wanted to remain under the radar on this. Well I think it is time to call Jim again at the Space Counsel's Office and ask a few more questions.

Jim, this is Mona again 400 miles over your head. How are you?

"Mona, Congratulations! Captain!"

How in the hell did you find out so fast, that is quick even for you.

"I was on the legal review team that validated the propriety of appointing someone as Captain prior to their 250th year of life. You be the first my friend!"

Hmmmm . . . that never occurred to me, guess so much has happened so fast I am getting sloppy. Anyway Jim, can you tell me if there are any more official actions or rumors regarding the AA's request for the space weapon ban?

"Yes, things are humming in the office. The AA has requested to terminate their membership in the World Space Alliance citing irreconcilable threats to their safety and security without so much as an explanation or citing any violation or evidence of such."

No shit?

"Yes, No Shit."

What do you think this means, Jim?

(To be Continued much later, will be traveling for several hours)

What does it mean?

46
755

The life and death of Mona Lisa on the Moon ."The Alterwelt Chronicles". . 32,000 years in the making!!!!

"Hmmmm . . . what does this mean? Well Mona, this is wild speculation but some of us in this office have some theories. They go like this.

The AA has proceeded to develop space based offensive weapons in violation of our treaty (with all other space faring Alliances) not to do so.

The AA is concerned their actions if confirmed could lead to sanctions which would be a problem for them presently, but maybe only temporarily.

It is therefore, a tactic to delay only. They could really care less about the treaty.

Once they are no longer a member of the Space Alliance any attempt to impose sanctions would be totally without teeth.
Why? Because no one on this earth would challenge AA's right to remove themselves from the Space Alliance to avoid such sanctions. So threats short of military action are not happening. Hell, we haven't had a real war for 8,000 years. "

Thanks Jim for your info and insight. I hate to say this but I think your speculation is right on target.

By-the-way, has anyone reported any treaty violations off planet?

"Rumors only rumors, but after today it is technically not a violation by AA. So no one knows what to do about it, even if they do."

Well Jim, thanks again. Give me a heads up if something significant happens. Bye.

Wow! I fear the AA is totally out of control now. No one on earth has thought of an armed massive threat for generations. All we basically have are ore carriers and transport ships to support scientific expeditions. What do I do now? (To be continued)

The AAs only weakness, no organic asteroid mining capabilities or long haul freight capability.

47
786

The life and death of Mona Lisa on the Moon ."The Alterwelt Chronicles". . 32,000 years in the making!!!!

Mona, sensed that war was inevitable though it had been 8,000 years since the last. Her visions had convinced her something was certain to happen. If so, what could she do to prepare and mitigate the outcome. Do nothing or be proactive? Her parents were always preaching social responsibility and civil duty so did she have a choice.

She began to inventory the capabilities of the World Alliance and those of the AA (Atlantis Alliance). It looked bleak for her side, the AA was formidable. They had by far the greater population and assumed standing military. They had been seeking research and development and back engineering ancient technology apparently for decades. They had a tight control over their population and if Sue was correct were ruthless in maintaining control.

What were AA's weaknesses if any? Then it occurred to Mona, the AA had no long haul space capability beyond the Moon. So if the World Alliance could turn that into an advantage it might buy time before the thing blew up.

She must convince the Space Alliance to move all 14 Mother Ships out of the range of AA attack capability. Without the asteroid mining ships sources of rare earth minerals for the AA's high tech weapons would be extremely limited. (To Continue later)

Briefing the Under Secretary

The life and death of Mona Lisa on the Moon ."The Alterwelt Chronicles". . 32,000 years in the making!!!!

Mona rushed to put together a briefing for the World Alliance Defense Committee. She asked Jim at the Space Legal Counsel to set up a meet with the highest ranking official willing to hear her findings and recommendations.

The date and hour came two weeks after the request. Dr Sue Grammar Professor of Antiquities, Attorney Jim Franklin of the Space Treaty Division, Drs Benjamin and Peggy Lisa Chief Scientists of the Moon Observatory along with herself attending.

Mona had little time communicating with attendees prior to the meeting. She hoped her position as one of only 14 captains of the Mother Ships Fleet would help her credibility despite her youth.

The briefing was to be given to the Chairman of the Space Defense Division an Under Secretary Position of the World Alliance Defense Department. The Chairman was a Two Star Flag Officer. Not bad for a short notice briefing.

Ben and Peggy Lisa were ecstatic to be on Earth and be with their daughter Mona. So they were more than happy to start the briefing. (To be Continued)

First image presented in the Briefing by Ben and Peggy Lisa, was the time lapse comparison of Zeeman Crater.

The life and death of Mona Lisa on the Moon ."The Alterwelt Chronicles". . 32,000 years in the making!!!!

The Briefing lasted four hours and to Mona's surprised Major General Spenser had his intelligence people there for validation and questions. The following findings were established.

1. the AA was most likely preparing technology to control space for military reasons.
2. the AA was using the far side of the moon for weapons testing and had been for many years.
3. The World Alliance is not prepared for any military action with the AA.
4. The ability of the AA to dominate the Earth politically, economically and militarily is very possible.
5. The World Alliance should consider moving as many assets out of AA's reach and do so as soon as possible. (To be Continued)

After the meeting Mona said her goodbyes to Jim, Sue and her Parents. She was glad to see everyone but left sick and depressed like never before in her life. Though nothing was said about the future prospects of mankind she knew things were not good.

As Mona stepped on to the ground transport bot that would take her to her accommodations for the night she fell back into her seat clumsily, next that odor and the flash of light! Next a vision that made no sense to her at all. It looked like a band of primitive hunters looking up at a hot air balloon that had the image of Prometheus falling from the sky. What the Hell?

The life and death of Mona Lisa on the Moon ."The Alterwelt Chronicles". . 32,000 years in the making!!!!

Before Mona met her parents for breakfast the next day she decided to tell them about her visions for the first time. Because of the few times they had been physically together (in the last 50 years) any missed opportunity to share things during such a rare event would be criminal.

Beautiful morning Mom, Dad! Looks like a beautiful day.

The scene was beautiful, they were overlooking an early autumn day near the outskirts of SpaceJump City.

:BucegiMount:

I never get tired of that view. It haunts me sometimes when I am in space, it is sometimes like I feel like for brief times that the Earth isn't real anymore.

A privilege and a duty

54
953

The life and death of Mona Lisa on the Moon ."The Alterwelt Chronicles". . 32,000 years in the making!!!!

Mona was setting behind her console on the short range shuttle of the Leviathan and she received a communication from the fleet command with the request to designate the logo of the Leviathan, a duty and privilege, reserved for the first Captain of any space craft.

Mona thought, Wow, I forgot about that, guess I better think of something fast?

The launch of the Leviathan had been delayed a few weeks in spite of the rush of the fleet command to get their Mother Ships out of the AA's destructive range, so this last touch had not been required until today.

What happened next was amazing and different . . . Mona had a vision but this time not accompanied by an odor or flash of light.

:SettleCosmos2:

It was a strange image of her mother in a butterfly outfit hovering in space with dragonflies buzzing around.

Well, I guess that has to be it (Mona thought) the Leviathan's logo is a dragonfly. How strange is that?

Mona settling into new accommodations

55
973

The life and death of Mona Lisa on the Moon ."The Alterwelt Chronicles". . 32,000 years in the making!!!!

Mona now at the Habitat Deep Space Launch Facility was surveying the still docked Leviathan, the newest, fastest and largest ever constructed.

She was proud, scared, excited and apprehensive all rolled up in one tight ball at the same time. While the last preparations were being finalized for launch Mona took some precious personal time to visit and inspect her quarters.

Wow! This was something to behold. These accommodations were nothing like she had ever seen before. She even had her own sauna and hot tub in her ensuite. Over her faux fireplace was the dragonfly logo and an enlarged image of her pet 'Frank', in all his colorful glory. Frank was named after her first boyfriend . . . a relationship that ended over 150 years before. She had to laugh, her 50 year old pet had about the same personality as her first romantic entanglement did. This had to be the work of her friend Jim at the Legal Counsel's Office.

lobotomized the poor souls

56
1,000

The life and death of Mona Lisa on the Moon ."The Alterwelt Chronicles". . 32,000 years in the making!!!!

Now two days before launch Nona sat down and did one of her infamous mental inventories.

Let's see what do we know now we didn't before?

1. The AA went public and admitted they had been testing weapons on the far side of the Moon.
2. Their explanation was they had uncovered information from the Ancients that there was "an enormous threat from out there" and someone needed to do something about it. They were stepping up to do so. But never described what that threat was. "Trust us" . . . was the unspoken message.
3. Information had leaked out that the AA had attacked and defeated a protectorate City State near the horn of Africa. Upon ending hostilities they force the entire states' citizenship to submit to tracking implantation of cybernetic devices. Later these devices lobotomized the poor souls rendering little more than biological robots. Soulless shells only capable of breathing and following the perverted and evil wishes of the Atlantic Alliance. These once human things were sacrificed to accomplish whatever dangerous and potentially lethal duty needed to be performed, perform menial labor or kept as sex slaves for the elites perverted pleasure.

"Sure Moan, I always have time for the most famous first trimester person ever born . . . "

Cut with the sarcasm, Sue, I need anything new from your AA bed buddy. If you have not already asked . . . what is the undefined "threat out there."

"Moan, I am well ahead of you and have been prying the best I can. He is of course under security surveillance from the AA and even our own people now."

Well, anything you can tell me?

"Two things, the cloaking device the Ancients used on the four Earth based defense batteries was the same the AA used to conceal their facilities at Zeeman Crater on the back side of the Moon.

Second, the Ancients were able to find a pellet
or projectile weapon used by the Ancients to obliterate a small asteroid of 20 square Km. My bud has been working on the technical stuff. So I suspect this "threat out there" if real, is some periodic rain of rogue asteroids coming from some vector we are not ready for, how I don't know? Otherwise, it is just a cover story to justify developing more destructive weapons . . . like really the AA needs anymore of those."

The Marine menagerie

After the talk with Sue, Captain Mona Ann Lisa made a inspection of the upper most cargo hold. She was inspecting the marine life (a regular marine menagerie) being transported to Ceres along with a large team of exo-biologists. Their intention was to "Aqua-Form" the enormous interior ocean or sea of Ceres.

This was no small task. The planetoid's interior contained an amount of water in excess of all the fresh water found on planet Earth. The key to the enormous task was to form a self sustaining ecosystem. Meaning finding micro organisms that could live off the inorganic mineral base of Ceres or the small thermal vents inside the planetoid. That part had more or less started and was successful. The next was to introduce the next step up the food chain which was to introduce different species of crustacea and Cnidaria (jellyfish) capable of eating the micro organisms. What they really want is a species that produces Bioluminescence so the scientists could generate some organic light source within Ceres' internal sea.

Mona was stunned by the amount of blue -green light coming from many of the holding tanks in the upper hold. The scientists had also brought a few genetically enhanced dolphins to assist in their efforts.

The World Alliance was desperate to find a safe and unreachable haven for refugees/survivors in case the worst case outcome based on computer modeling occurred.

They had decided if war was coming the World Alliance was helpless to stop the Atlantis Alliance. Ultimately . . . run and hide was the only possibly strategy to guarantee some chance at survival. (To be Continued)

CeresI

Ceres appears to be differentiated into a rocky core and icy mantle, and may have a remnant internal ocean of liquid water under the layer of ice.[19][20] The surface is probably a mixture of water ice and various hydrated minerals such as carbonates and clay. In January 2014, emissions of water vapor were detected from several regions of Ceres.[21] This was unexpected, because large bodies in the asteroid belt do not typically emit vapor, a hallmark of comets.

Eight months for round trip to Ceres

The life and death of Mona Ann Lisa on the Moon, 32,000 years in the making by George B. (All rights reserved Unpublished work (c) 2016 George B.)

Mona was going over the flight plan to Ceres. The most efficient launch window to Mars happens only once every 26 months. So if Leviathan makes the launch window (which looks like she will) with a Rapid Transit Flight Path, she will be at Mars in 26 days, averaging 78,000 mph the high mid range of Leviathan's ion drive capability. Once Leviathan slings off of Mars at 0.523 AUs from Earth, the transit to Ceres should be 80 more days for about a 3.5 month one-way trip. (Ceres being 1.77 AUs from Earth)

Even if Leviathan did an emergency return trip, Mona calculates at best an eight (8) month round trip. And if she needed to wait for the next best available launch window it would require a year and two months round trip.

Mona thought, the voyage gives me a good amount of time to think about a bunch of issues . . . Bring it on!

The Doomsday scenario

The life and death of Mona Lisa on the Moon ."The Alterwelt Chronicles". . 32,000 years in the making!!!!

Mona's parents had returned to the Moon Research Center and would not see the Leviathan launch in person but would be able to see it on live feed.

Mona decided to talk a few things over with them because the ion drive which would be pulsating continually for about three week to allow Leviathan to reach her maximum cruising speed. This inhibited communication because of the electromagnetic flux the ion drive created. So unless one launched a short range com probe toward earth with a prerecorded message there was no reasonable two way communication possible for weeks.

Hi, Mom, Dad. How was your trip back to the Moon?

"Just fine Dear. Both parents said together. We saw the Leviathan on the way out!" Both talking over the other. "We are so proud and your ship is a beautify, we love the Dragonfly logo. "

Thanks guys, that means the world to me! Do you two have the time to communicate over a two way encrypted voice com?

"Sure dear."

Mom, Dad . . . congrats on being appointed to the Emergency Defense Planning Committee for the Alliance. I know it is unusual that three members of one family have accepted the positions. What I want to talk to you about is our computer simulation of the Doomsday Scenario. It doesn't look good. (To be Continued)

The Kessler syndrome

The life and death of Mona Lisa on the Moon ."The Alterwelt Chronicles". . 32,000 years in the making!!!!

We have run the computer simulations and computed the probabilities and with a 85% scenario reproduction occurrence rate the answer comes out the same.

The World Alliance falls within one year of a global war initiated by the AA. We can delay it but we cannot stop it . . . That is the analysis of our best minds and prediction models. And I am sure the AA has studied the same computer models.

"Those are our estimates as well dear, I mean Captain."

My recommendation to prevent the entire death, destruction, and enslavement of the World Alliance we need to consider an extreme measure.

This measure should not be taken lightly and will only even the odds to a point where a stalemate might eventually occur. The underground shelters, arks, and off world shelters may assure that an ELE does not occur but there is no real guarantee of that either.

In the final analysis the World Alliance chooses death over enslavement and torture by the AA . . . and I agree.

The AA advantage is in the use of their short-range, space based pellet rail guns (back engineered from ancient technology), which are only accurate enough to do pinpoint strikes from somewhere we estimate lower than 400 miles in orbit. This is because they are free fall weapons which cannot be guided because of the nature of their magnetic containment fields.

We therefore have considered and recommend the sacrifice of the Orbiting Habitats. This will effectively deny the AA the high ground through the effects of the Kessler Syndrome.

Kessler Syndrome facts

[link to www.spacesafetymagazine.com]

"In 2009, the operational Iridium 33 satellite collided with the defunct but intact Russian Cosmos 2251. The two satellites collided with a speed of 42,120 km/h at an altitude of 789 kilometers. The accident, called the Cosmos-Iridium collision, sent thousands of pieces of debris flying across an area populated by telecommunication and remote-sensing satellites, each piece drifting and decaying at a different rate, ramping up the probability for more collisions."

"Matter in orbit travels at ridiculously high speeds, like… 22,000km/h, just as an example. If this matter were to travel in the same plane and direction indefinitely, it would be impossible for any matter to collide, like cars going straight on a highway at the same speed, never endeavoring to switch lanes or get off on an exit.

But in space, uncontrolled objects do nott follow a straight path. Instead, each piece of debris is subject to drift and decay. The variation in Earth’s gravitation field causes drift, or the gradual movement of an object to a different orbital plane. The friction of an object with Earth’s atmosphere causes decay, or the slow decrease in an object’s altitude."

The committee also has considered a crash program to study the effects of increasing the birth rate of the potential survivors. How to do it? When to do it and how much to do it?

So far the committee is assuming the death rates of initial survivors will be very high and the infant mortality just as high. Also, life expectancy may well crash to the lowest levels ever experienced in the human race.

Our models suggest that a twelve fold increase in ovulation frequency is a good target to shoot for. . . It is suggested we pre-screen and designate young women who would be willing to participate. At the beginning of a declared war with the AA. . . . these women will then be genetically altered and be given priority in any sheltering or off world relocation.

Research in animal studies show this ovulation frequency can be permanently passes to new generations with 98% effectiveness.

If war begins the decision has been made not to surrender. This means using all the means at our disposal. To prevent evil from triumphing we will risk it all. We would rather be extinct than slaves.

The World Alliance has sworn to use all weapons available to delay, defeat or neutralize the AA if they do attack for the purpose of conquering our city states. No future nation will be lobotomized. We have sworn a sacred oath.

Therefore, the computer model of all out hostilities indicates a world wide nuclear winter will result. It also predicts the destruction of, or the diminishing of, our protective stratospheric ozone layer. Expected loss will range from 30 - 75% loss in thickness.

This means ionizing radiation in the UVA and UVB wavelengths will increase the mutation and aging process of human, plant and animal cells. Even after the nuclear winter has done its damage. We conclude in most areas of the earth survival of humans will not happen unless they are sheltered from 100 to 1,000 thousand years underground or under the sea.
