Ridicule me at will ... but it's been a blast.

Right now, i'm playing "100 best film classics" , 6 cd's all up, and listening to the 'Saving Private Ryan hymn' ... excellent even it's a hollywood film score.

Give it a try, some stuff like "Adagio for Strings" ... witch many will know from 'Platoon' are emotional tear jerkers ...

I've must be getting old ( 31 ) BUT without getting into detail, a whole new musical world awaits. Yes, playing it to friends is still some way off .... we all have insecurities you know.

For myself, nothing compares and i have 150 Cd's now collecting dust to this stuff.

Just sharing my thoughts.

Classical music rocks. If you're in the mood for it.

Everything else stemmed from that if you think about it.

True. It's a well known fact that the Africans that were taken away from their homes in bondage were forced to listen to classical composition on the slave boats as they made their journey across the Atlantic to the "New World." Thus, they were able to influence early American roots genres such as gospel, blues, and bluegrass.

"Swan Lake" from Tchaikovsky ... rather powerful too, yes i've heard it before, but now that i think about it, considering that time frame it was produced in, is it fair to say modern music is going backwards???

I'd say so in my book, but it is just 'my' book ....

I'll leave it at that. All i can say to "all in sundry" is check it out.

Good night all for at least a few weeks .... by this time tomorrow, i'll be about 900m directly underground help building a crusher machine.

Classical is the metal of it's time.

Tchaikovsky (sp) 1812 ouverture reminds me of Iron Maiden for some reason.

The last one I bought was Andre Rieu, and he puts together such a good-fun-show that I'll be getting the "homecoming" DVD.
If you're not aware of his work, I highly recommend it.
Leave me alone and I'll return the favor.

I like Bach and Handel. I
never tire of listening
to their music.

I listen to it full volume.

When I pull up to an intersection,
I turn it down. Most people
don't understand. I especially
love Classical music at Christmas,
oops, I meant the HolIDAYS.

Great line! Classical music is great, and timeless. Lots of the younger guys at work look at me like I've gone senile when they hear me listening to it....at least until they've had a chance to actually listen to it as well.

I remember when Frank Zappa testified in that stupid PTRC hearing in Washington. One of the people there asked him what kind of music his kids listen to, and was shocked when Zappa told them that while he didn't force anything on them, he encouraged them to listen to and learn about classical music.

Clasical was Franks first love, and it shows in his music.
Reality is interesting enough.

Re: To be honest, the last 10 music cd's i've purchased have all been classical music
Classical music is from the time when people have been more human, with real emotions.
Many of the classic composers were "illuminati", this is why I don't believe that they are the "bad guys". Impossible to make music like Mozart's Magic flute or Beethoven's symphonies with a malevolent evil spirit without emotions.
