strange thunder just now

from two days temperature was little bit high

it didnt rumble like normal thunder .a double boom sounded like bombs going off and then five mins later a single boom

wtf no one ?

I'm in Tennessee and I hear different thunder here. I can only describe it as a large thin sheet of metal being waved overhead. Like aluminum. Obviously that's not what it is, but that's how it sounds.
Very low to the ground feeling. You can even feel the strange vibration.

I've lived here 40 years and it is definitely different.

Last week we had a thunder storm in north cal, micro burst they call it...like a camera flash, the lighting was high in the clouds. I have never seen this type of lighting before here. Lived in this home for 15 years.

Yep. Lincolnshire here. Heard it too. Deep, rumbling and seems to come from everywhere at once. I hear it all the time. It's not jets, it's just odd...

I know the double booms close together (like a quick boom-boom) is what it sounds like when space shuttle re enters the atmosphere for its landing. I assume any object entering the atmosphere going really fast would have the same effect. Just a thought.

Now that you mention it, when we have thunderstorms here in Ky, it sounds.......maybe....how do I say it....digital.

On another occurrence, it lasted a good 5-10 seconds but it was a rolling thunder that "boomed" what seemed every second. It seemed like it was timed or something.

I'm staying at in laws in the Cotswolds a b52 flew over not long ago .....

We have been having storms here this past week in WI and keep noticing how the thunder sounds metallic, many people have commented on it in our area...it's bizarre.

There have been a few storms about. What you describe, I would call shotgun thunder. You get that sound when a positive CG (lightning bolt) hits the ground or object. The nearer you are to it the bigger the crack sound.

Midlands ( and England South) have 50 percent chance of more storms from first light tomorrow.
