Sanibel User ID: 2114859 United States 06/14/2016 01:48 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm in Tennessee and I hear different thunder here. I can only describe it as a large thin sheet of metal being waved overhead. Like aluminum. Obviously that's not what it is, but that's how it sounds. Very low to the ground feeling. You can even feel the strange vibration. I've lived here 40 years and it is definitely different. Sanibel |

dukusprime User ID: 72043312 United States 06/14/2016 02:59 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | it didnt rumble like normal thunder .a double boom sounded like bombs going off and then five mins later a single boom Quoting: Anonymous Coward 70940335 I know the double booms close together (like a quick boom-boom) is what it sounds like when space shuttle re enters the atmosphere for its landing. I assume any object entering the atmosphere going really fast would have the same effect. Just a thought. dukusprime |

Now that you mention it, when we have thunderstorms here in Ky, it sounds.......maybe....how do I say it....digital. On another occurrence, it lasted a good 5-10 seconds but it was a rolling thunder that "boomed" what seemed every second. It seemed like it was timed or something. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 72320228 United Kingdom 06/14/2016 04:53 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There have been a few storms about. What you describe, I would call shotgun thunder. You get that sound when a positive CG (lightning bolt) hits the ground or object. The nearer you are to it the bigger the crack sound. Midlands ( and England South) have 50 percent chance of more storms from first light tomorrow. |
