when my husband died, i was completely obliterated emotionally. i could not function at all, sobbing, confused, out of my mind with grief and shock. for days i was not able to drive my car, sleep or function in any coherent capacity. when i had to make funeral arrangements, my best friend at the time came with me. i couldnt think or stop crying or make decisions. i mean, i could barely stand up.

for weeks, people were bringing me and my kids food, prepared meals, but i could not get one morsel of food down my throat for 6 weeks. i lost 28 lbs, and i couldnt afford to lose 28 lbs.

i went to grief counseling for two months which helped a lot. but it really took me a year to get my shit together and probably two more years after that to stop crying every time i saw his photo or heard his name.

the day came when i had to clear out his clothes and other stuff. i remember sitting on the floor of my bedroom clutching at his shirts and smelling them trying to extract the last drops of his scent from the fabric, crying my guts out.

it was like someone shot a cannon right through my chest leaving a gaping 1ft in diameter hole.

he was fucking 43 yrs old. my kids and i were beyond devastated. we barely got thru the memorial let alone the weeks and months that followed. it was horrible.

the responses of these people are RIDICULOUS. none of these people are truly grieving or are in shock.
