The govt doesn't give a fuck about your health, they would prefer you were on drugs. Hemp was the first human crop cultivated, and remains the most important. In the entire history of the world, most people's clothes were made of homespun hemp. It's most important uses were as canvas(Dutch word for cannabis) and hempen rope. Navies cannot operate without sails and rope. Ancient Rome was the biggest grower of hemp in the world. Up until 1920, farmers in the USA were REQUIRED to plant a certain percentage of their land in hemp. It basically was like the fuel for the navy, and all commerce. It was the oil of it's day. In fact, what kind of oil do you think Aladdin's lamp was burning? Both the declaration of Independence and the Constitution are written on hemp paper. The original Betsy Ross stars and bars flag in the Smithsonian is made of hemp. |

But it does have amazing medical applications which are much better than current pharmaceuticals. Plus, it would take one more money-making option out of the hands of the cartels, thereby decreasing their numbers. The problem, though, would be to simultaneously curtail their distribution of heroine and synthetic drugs. If you take away a cash cow, they will switch to a higher-profit product and push that hard on the streets. Still, there would be the additional tax revenues, just as we get them from cigarettes and booze. I do think that recreational sales should be restricted to those 24 and older, as the brain is still forming until that point and it has been shown that pot and other drug use can be the trigger for schizophrenia in those genetically predisposed. Likewise, I do not think that ANY company, pharmaceutical or otherwise, should be able to hold a single patent on any plant or product derived from pot. If this is allowed, you know exactly what will happen to the pot industry. |

Didn't care for it much. Having said that, I think it should be available at the drive-thru at CVS or Wall Mart. If people want to smoke pot, let them. Its their decision. We've had people on GLP who are on some type of government assistance and they claimed to be chronic pot users. What does that mean to me? Not a fucking thing. If you want to get high all the time, it means absolutely nothing in my life. I don't have the right to be judgmental nor critical of how people wish to conduct their life unless it impacts me. Anything else is mental masturbation. The only sense of caution I have is the government sponsoring or supervising its sale in any way. They put shit in our water and air, why not marijuana? If I were to use it I would either grow it or buy it from reputable farmers/growers. As you can see from this thread people use it for various reasons. Again, none of my business nor anyone else not impacted by their usage. Smoke 'em if you got 'em. The end. |
