My hat is off to John Pemberton that created Coca-cola in 1886. It is one of the best tastes ever created. It is NOT easy to make a syrup and then try it in a carbonated drink. I'm sure it took hundreds and hundreds of times to get what he wanted. Obviously it didn't have that stupid shit in it. besides cocaine, that is. I'm lucky enough that I got to drink coke and pepsi mixed at a soda fountain, as a child, in the 50's. it was wonderful. It was nothing like the shit they sell now. It was a nickle a glass. I assume it's the citric acid and carbonic acid. No big deal. I doubt if coke has sulphuric or phosphorous acid today. Phosphorus acid tastes pretty good. it's has a little more sour taste than citric acid. Here's a link to some Phosphate soda recipes.
