Everybody talks about all the surveillance cameras in the UK, but nobody seems to notice they're at every intersection in America too. Same exact cameras, same exact mounts on traffic standards in every city throughout the western U.S. Not sure about the eastern states, but I suspect it's the same.

Good points, they are starting to go up in Austin Texas. But we got one thing -and that's 100 million gun owners, and one day they are gonna be pissed.

I posted this about a week and a half ago.

I lived in the Denver area until about 2 years ago, and traveled to Vegas and LA working all the time. There were a lot of cameras in those cities. Not near as many in the Tampa Bay area where I am now.
In Denver, they said it was for monitoring traffic, to adjust the timing on traffic signals as needed.
I always made sure to not be tokin' a joint sitting at a traffic light though.Just in case.

But in America, people can fight back and have them removed. At least in my area. Of course in this case it was about money. The school system sued because they were supposed to be getting a large portion of the profits from the traffic citations issued. The city decided they couldn't make enough profit after that and did away with them.

Truthfully, I think Great Britain is beyond help. The worse thing then the actual surveillance society is the wide spread ACCEPTANCE of the surveillance society.

Truthfully, here in America, we are on Camera more then we realize. And it's getting to the point it doesn't bother us that we are on camera.

But, since no one has the balls to take the Revolution to the next level, but merely talk stuff to death, I don't we'll see any real change in the world.

We can't even come to a consensus that our real enemy is the Council on Foreign Relations.

The proliferation of surveillance at all levels in the UK has driven me from my country...though nationality now is worthless anyway. The first time someone erects one in your neighborhood use it for target practice.

The standard comeback "If you haven't got something to hide you don't need to worry," doesn't wash with me. Unless of course I can have camera monitoring of the Chief of Police's bedroom passed to me. Well, "If he hasn't got something to hide..."

It's about privacy and rights which are being eroded rapidly.

The DNA collection and mergers of medical records onto a national database in the UK is sinister. It is only a matter of time before they have all DNA recorded and available to the police state.

One guy was BANNED for a year for "dangerous driving" as he took both hands off of the steering wheel to make the gesture !!!

A motorist who made V-signs at a police speed camera has been convicted of dangerous driving and banned for a year.

Sean Toehill, 21, took both hands off the steering wheel to make the gesture, although Cupar sheriff court, Fife, heard that he was not speeding and did not lose control.

Toehill, of Cupar, said afterwards: "I think it's incredibly harsh. Just because I'm a young guy, they want to make an example of me.

"I can't believe that speed cameras can be used in this way. I thought they were to catch speeding drivers."

1 - if allowing they to take a snapshot of your biometric features is unavoidable, then at least learn every bit of how this technology works and where is it stored, because then, at least, you can fight it back if it's used against you (remember that movie 'The Net' with Sandra Bullock)

2 - or don't let them do anything, even your material welfare and integrity is not prioritary when it comes to defend your FREEDOM. it's a matter of freedom or death. i'm ready, and you?

I do a lot of CCTV systems for the private sector, and some of the camera enclosures these days are amazingly stout. You can pound 'em with a sledge hammer and only scratch 'em.
