Resort to cannibalism? Gold (and silver) will enable those in a time of crisis when Uncle Samuel Bogus Bucks have no value to buy other food as well as a whole host of necessities such as generators for power as one example. Guns and ammo only potentially enable its owners to hold onto what they have or "acquire" by force what they need. If the latter, good luck with that as other people have firearms too including those holding precious metals. If all the deer and game are killed of by that buddy you ain't going to the store to buy anything with anything. |

Think pain killers, antibiotics, heart medication, tetnus, you name it. Of course once people found out you had these, you would need the ammo and a small army to protect it... Yes. The thing about ammo, is that in Rock Paper Scissors Lizard Spock Ammo, Ammo ALWAYS wins. I believe in God, guns and Old Glory. If that offends you, I won't say I'm sorry. The thing about ammo, is that in Rock Paper Scissors Lizard Spock Ammo, Ammo ALWAYS wins. Um, hate to be "that guy" but ammo does go bad. Especially .22 LR. If you have some old ammo sitting around, look real closely with a 10X loupe or whatever at the bullet part of a round. Right at the base of the exposed bullet, there are minute grooves cut/impressed into the bullet that engage with the rifling when chambered. The electroplated copper coating is perforated there and the exposed lead oxidizes and creates a grey escressesce which is not abrasive, but quickly gums up a semi-auto action. This gunk causes failure to extract, failure to feed, rapid accuracy drop, wild out of control trajectories("flyers") depending on model of arm, etc. A green scrubbie with a pencil hole makes a cleaner, but real accuracy may be compromised. Anyway, ammo does not always win. Usually, does a bang up job tho... PM's don't kick in until society has some stable method to transport goods and people decide on a universal currency which could be beads, food, water... whatever...
