Anonymous Coward User ID: 72464757 United States 06/29/2016 01:03 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | So in Alaska we have the stand your ground law the way I understand this law is you have to right to protect your self and your property with deadly force anywhere you are threatened. So with that in mind am I within my right to walk down a ghetto neighborhood with a nice watch and necklace talking on the best smart phone and the moment a few gutter trash types try to mug me or threaten me in any way can I pull my gun out and blow them away since I'd be outnumber and felt my life's or my property is in serious danger? Quoting: Merkyaleez 68468775 Seem like an easy license to kill... We call that the Concealed Carry Game. It's the logical alternative to the Knockout Game. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 68560474 Seems like it wouldn't matter how many times this happend because you are just protecting yourself WITHEN the law. More likely news would spread in the ghetto trash communities to be careful who you mess with and treat others how you want to me treated or the risk could be your life. Just think if all states had this law how much less personal crime there would be in the USA if every person had the right to defend them selves with deadly force. You never know who has a knife or gun when attacking someone, if your life's on the line a couple of bucks hardly seems worth it anymore to mug since your intent would be to just rob them and the defenders intent is to kill you |

indiandave User ID: 72389165 United States 06/29/2016 01:20 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | A white boy in the ghetto would raise suspicion with the police. They would think you were there to buy drugs. A drug deal gone bad. You definitely would be handcuffed and interrogated. whatever you say could be used against you. So you better not talk. That would mean you may spend the night in jail. Not all fun and games. |
Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 68468775 United States 06/29/2016 01:24 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | No one should ever have to run away or cower from attackers. That's why the stand your ground law works. In other states you can pretty much only defend yourself if all other options have been exasted. But when your being attacked you need to act fast or you could be the one dead. |

One of the most important aspects of conspiracy theories is being able to discern when there isn't one. Oh yeah, like you'd understand anyway. Where are we going and why am I in this handbasket?. . .J. Handy |

Quoting: Merkyaleez 68468775 Seem like an easy license to kill... No it is not. Generally, "stand your ground" means you do not have to run from the attack, before you can respond to an attack. Whether you must try to run away from your attackers before you can defend your self, even with fists or pepper spray, is based upon your state having stand your ground laws or not. As far a feeling threatened and how you can respond is different in different states. Some apply " what a reasonable person would do in that situation", as a test. Other states have other limitations on your actions. The basic idea is you can only resist being killed or great bodily harm which might cause death or severe injury with lethal force. Being robbed on the street, by unarmed individuals, would not by itself be justification enough to shoot them. In your home, Castle doctrine laws would apply also, if your state has them. So "stand your ground" is not a "license to kill" or shoot people but about when you can defend yourself in any manner. But you would need to consult your local laws to know exactly where you stand. |

I'm not necessarily negating anything you said, merely suggesting that perhaps the difference between murder/self defense is Honor. What is Honor you might ask... well, there are a few rules/concepts and without understanding them you might just find yourself on the wrong end of Honor out of ignorance, an experiment gone wrong perhaps. |
