The Gravy Train.
People say to me 'you are riding the gravy train'?

What the fuck does that mean? Why would anyone want a trainload of gravy? where the hell is that train going, to Mashed Potatoville?

In the 1920’s, gravy was a slang word for easy money usually gotten by illegal means. Gravy is a rich food and sometimes used to describe luxuries. To have it easy by making a living with little effort.

During America’s railroad days, the gravy train evolved when a ‘gravy’ run was an easy one with little work.

This is great. I would have guessed it went back to wagon trains. everything great happened in the 1920's. then the democrats got into power
