The only rule that trully matters is the one laid by Jesus:

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’There is no commandment greater than these.”"

All "righteous" behavior derives from this rule.

Jesus himself didn't follow every single rule laid out by his forefathers like when he broke the sabbath. Compassion is really the cornerstone of Christian teachings. Faith is important also.

Jesus gave us new commandments, for Christians to follow, that aren't in the old testament law.

This is my commandment: love each other just as I have loved you.
