Interesting tactic, but this could set a dangerous precedent.

Cops like to keep themselves out of harm's way above all else, hence why in active shooter scenarios like in Orlando, they take HOURS to respond.

If they kill an innocent person, they can blame it on the robot by saying there was "interference" "hardware issues" or "a software glitch", absolving them of responsibility.

Of course, it could start an arms race, civilians could easily make their own "bomb robots", I honestly could build one myself if I was motivated enough. Heck, the cops figured out how to make one on short notice.

And honestly, what good are guns against a group of explosive-carrying robots or drones? Sure, you could shoot the robot, but that could also set off the explosives and injure or kill the shooter (dependent on distance and the type of explosive used) and if the shooter succeeds, they just send in another robot; the operator stays out of harm's way.

Remote controlled cars, quad rotor drones, hell, even a roomba vacuum cleaner could do the job.

And of course, nobody has mentioned the fact that this is the first time that a robot has been used to intentionally take another human being's life in a civil action (non-military). That's one for the whole "rise of the machines" camp.

When you get down to it, it very Cyberpunk, very dark, and not a good precedent for humanity.

1)Unhappy with BLM but wanted to kill "White Police Officers"

2)Acted alone but their are 3 uncooperative suspects in custody

3)Only 1 shooter despite multiple witness's statements stating otherwise

4)Police Chief states that he cannot release any details about the suspects because of the safety of the citizens but the shooter wasn't part of any group and the uncooperative suspects were also not part of any group and we are supposed to believe they managed to plan all of this and organize all of the weapons and ammo and coordinate the ambush and designate the ambush area in 24 hours? Wake TF Up!

I agree with your thoughts. This is not good at all. I don't want cops to get killed, but this isn't the way to deal with it.

If cops are beating people, or trigger happy, they should go to jail like other thugs. The fact that they almost always have no convictions for wrong action is what causes such animosity. Still, not all cops are bad.

After this, even if it isn't actually real, police are going to be very paranoid, and everything will escalate even further. Sigh.

The shooter might have had somebody like Carlos Arredondo throw him in a wheelchair and pinch his femoral artery then take him to the FBI for questioning. Not under oath. Not Recorded. No Transcripts. But we would atleast know what we, as a country, need to learn from the event.
