It's a part-time side job of sorts. Maybe there's a core getting paid, then a bunch of sheep show up and tag along. And yes, like a third of the population that could be employed are not. Unemployment figures look at who is receiving unemployment benefits, for one thing. So people who've been unemployed for more than a few months and are no longer receiving benefits or those who are unemployed but never received benefits are not in those official figures. I know my apartment building seems to have people around all day, every day. It seems to have gotten worse in the last few years. My city seems to be heavy on sugar babies, too. |
