The Senior Constable is shown by his car’s own dash cam footage, running at a vehicle pulled over on the side of the road, while loosely holding his gun one handed and pointing it at a motorist’s head. The Senior Constable gave chase across the ACT border, before the driver finally pulled over. The footage then shows the officer tapping the barrel of his pistol on the driver side window twice, before the very shaken motorist stepped out of the car, and understandably followed police orders. In handing down her decision on Friday, Special Magistrate Margaret Hunter said she was appalled the police officer had drawn his gun in the circumstances and it was clearly unnecessary to have levelled it at the man's face." video: [ link to www.canberratimes.com.au] |
