Will oil of oregano work for a bladder infection?
I'm desperate here. I don't want to go to the emergency room just to get some antibiotics. I would much rather use something all natural.

Some even believe we are part of a secret cabal working against the best interests of the United States, characterizing my family and me as 'internationalists' and of conspiring with others around the world to build a more integrated global political and economic structure - one world, if you will. Olive Leaf Extract.

Olive Leaf Extract acts against as an antimicrobial agent: AIDS, athlete's foot, bladder infection, Chlamydia, colds, cold sores (Herpes simplex I), Ebola virus, Hanta virus, impetigo, Lyme disease, meningitis, pneumonia, ringworm, scabies, shingles (Herpes zoster), vaginal yeast infection, whooping cough.

Why do you think you need expensive extracts or oils? The much cheaper oregano spice has it all anyway, at least if it is organic grown.

Cranberry juice works wonders for me. I drink at least 48
ounces a month, and since I started doing that 16 years ago
I have not had a single urinary infection, or any trouble
like that.

BTW, if your infection is bacterial antibiotics won't do a
damned bit of good for it.
 Quoting: DrPostman

I used to get them all the time, but I haven't gotten one in a very long time. Usually I will feel them coming on and I can head them off with drinking lots of water, but this one caught me by surprise.

I used to drink lots of cranberry juice, but I got out of the habit of it when I stopped having problems. But, I think I will send my husband to the store. I know the worst part will probably hit when I'm getting ready for bed.

Talk about pain! I had a Dr. tell me once that having a massive heart attack and passing a kidney stone are the pains that compare to a bad bladder infection. I had forgotten how bad this pain really is!

My husband calls it, pi--ing razor blades!

I get it from health food but not every brand has the same effect, tho most organic grown definitely work.
I am in the EU so I guess it doesn't help if I name them.

Savory spice has similar effects, I chew that too.

tart for anyone you can cut it with apple juice or grape

Have cured many a UTI with undiluted, natural cranberry juice. But you don't want to drink too much. Start with one bottle. It tastes like red wine. And probably costs almost as much! Good luck.

Unprotected sex can really hurt you... Make sure you and your partner are both healthy and CLEAN before doing it. Too many men want that "spontaneous" experience but are thoughtless about the cleanliness issue. It's not fair to the women, who end up doing the suffering.

One more thing: if it's really a nasty one and you can't cure it with home remedies, do go see your doctor. UTIs can really make you feel lousy and they now have a one-dose mega-antibiotic that can knock it right out. That'll cost you some jack, too, but you don't want complications. If your partner is uncircumcised UTIs can be a real problem. Many uncircumcised men just don't know how to wash themselves properly and also don't realize that they need to wash more often than circumcised men. If that's the problem, INSIST on it.

I know what you're saying about the suffering part. My partner is my husband and we have been together for 15 years. But, I know what you are saying, some men are very thoughtless. That would be my EX husband.

I don't know what caused this one. I have a very sensitive bladder. Stress used to be the culprit years ago. Every time I got very stressed out, my bladder would suffer because of it. I am also allergic to cayenne pepper where my bladder is concerned. It will get my bladder in an uproar every time. But, I don't know what caused this one. It just came on all of a sudden.

No cayenne pepper, and very little stress, so I don't know!

I took some oil of oregano, I'm hoping for the best. I'm going to drink some of the cranberry/apple juice and see if that brings me some relief.

I'm about to croak!

Re: Will oil of oregano work for a bladder infection?
Possibly you got too acidic from eating holiday treats and candy, and all the stress of the holidays...drink dilute lemon or dilute apple cider vinegar; although acids, they create an alkaline system.

Drink lots and lots and lots of water. Don't have *any* sweets or sugar...a little honey is ok. Eat plain yogurt to re-establish healthy intestinal balance (which will help keep your system more alkaline). One reason cranberry juice works is that sour/bitter takes the sugar out of your system. Eat more vegies and ripe fruit, not so much carbs and sugars.

Be careful whenever washing, if soap gets in the urethra it can bring on a bladder infection. You probably need more sleep, too. Try going to bed a little earlier.

Try to simplify your life. Anger, hurry, annoyance, fatigue, overwhelm, all increase acidic state. Routine, kindness, rest, beauty, simplicity, increase alkaline state. Even a 'resolution' to simplify and get more rest will give you a better mental atmosphere.

All the best. Been there, done that, lol. hf

I have problems with bladder infections all the time. Please see a doctor if it gets bad and nothing helps. It can go to the kidneys. I am always having problems with the doc always finding traces of blood in my urine from infections. Was told if I have another episode I will have to go to an urologist. My dad died of kidney disease. So please, please, do not delay in getting treatment if the cranberry doesn't help this weekend. But I've been drinking watermelon juice this past week and it really helped me tremendously. Sometimes cranberry juice or any kind of juice or natural treatment is not enough.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 155690

I didn't know they have a one-dose mega-antibiotic now. That's cool! I'm hoping I don't have to go to the Dr....especially because it's the weekend so I'll have to go to the emergency room. We have a $75.00 co-pay on our insurance for emergency room visits. But, I guess I can't really complain. I know what it's like to not have insurance. For years I had to pay $300-500 just to go the emergency room and find out I have a urinary tract infection when I knew that to begin with. But, if the infection hit on the weekend, then that was my only option. But that was years ago. I haven't had this problem in quite a while.

I'm going to try the home remedies and hope for the best. If I'm not any better by Monday (and I can make it that long) I will go to the Dr.

The problem I have with antibiotics is they cause (me) yeast infections and yeast infections irritate my bladder. So, once I get over the urinary tract infection, I get a yeast infection, and then I get an irritated bladder again from the yeast. So it takes forever to get over a simple urinary tract infection. My body is a real pain when it comes to female stuff. It's very sensitive!

But, if I HAVE to go to the Dr. I will request a diflucan pill to go with the antibiotics. So, maybe, I can head off the yeast infection.

I didn't know that about uncircumcised men. My husband doesn't have that problem, thank God. If he did, and me with my bladder being so sensitive, we'd probably have a big problem on our hands.

In fact, I can honestly say, I've never even seen one uncircumcised, but that's probably too much info for those of you that are reading this, LOL! Sorry, but I just had to mention it for some reason.

You don't sound bossy, thank you for the advice. I had forgotten about the soap. I've had problems with soap in the past causing me a bladder infection. I did recently switch to a different kind of soap. I usually use Lever 2000 the regular kind, but I got the aloe vera kind this last time, so maybe that's what did it. Whatever it was, it came on with a vengeance. No warning whatsoever.

It also could be the sugar thing. I HAVE been eating more sugar than usual because of the holidays.

Thank you for the advice. I have some apple cider vinegar. I think I will try that too!

I definitely could stand to go to bed earlier. I've gotten in a bad habit (again) of staying up too late!

Thank you for your concern. I promise you that I will go to the doctor if nothing helps. I, too, have suffered with bladder infections for years. I got my first one at age 18 and I had them off and on for 10 years. When I was pregnant with my son, 11 years ago, I didn't think I was going to make it through the pregnancy because I was in so much pain from my bladder. The baby put so much pressure on my bladder that it was like having a bladder infection, but the infection part didn't show up on the urinalysis so they didn't give me any antibiotics, I just had to suffer and suffer I did (the entire pregnancy). I thought I was literally going to die. But, after I had him, I became very sensitive to bladder pain and when I had the first tingle that my bladder was going to give me problems, I would begin drinking water and wouldn't stop until my bladder was better. This worked for years. But, this one came up without warning.

Sorry about your dad. I wish you the best with your bladder. I know what you are going through! I can see the watermelon juice helping. Afterall, it is a natural diuretic. (so are cucumbers) I never thought to drink the juice though. Good idea!

cranberry capsules. It's more effective than using antibiotics, imho,

Hope it helps. Good luck!
