The research, led by scientists at the University of California, Riverside and the University of Miami, exposed embryos and larvae of mahi-mahi from the Gulf of Mexico to what they called weathered (exposed to years of sunlight) and un-weathered oil (taken from the drilling site) from the Deepwater Horizon spill. Compared to fish exposed to un-weathered oil, the fish exposed to the weathered oil experienced impaired eye and neurological function, reduced heart rates, and a build up of excess fluid in the heart. Corexit is 4 times as toxic as the oil alone and when combined with the oil the mixture is 13 times as toxic as the oil alone. With the oil floating on the surface sunlight and wave action would have rendered the oil harmless within a short time. Corexit mixes with the oil to form a toxic sludge that sinks to the ocean floor and poisons everything, and it has been doing that for six years now. Corexit got the oil out of sight, and there was profit to be made. admiral shitface of the US Coastguard was in on it from the beginning, and guess who he works for now.
