This took place along the Promenade des Angais. There is video, people are seen running from the area. It was not a car but a truck.

Apparently the truck drove full speed into the crowd and there were sounds of automatic gun fire

So this is what I gather.....a large truck, still don't know what type, drove full speed, could have been a suicide attack but the truck did not explode. Now, in the distance, there are reported gunshots in the distance. They are reported but not confirmed.

Gunman on the loose as the city is now on lockdown---Troops are arriving to secure the area

CNN is just getting to the breaking news 38 minutes later

Several being reported killed, no number as of yet

30 now being reported dead

Truck rams crowd......shooters jump out of truck...shoot people...take hostages in restaurant...kill more at hotel lobby....ongoing...plenty dead and wounded already.
