We are talking very high percentages. Nobody declares it because they are afraid of being classified as Disabled and therefore eligible for SC. So the deaf are taught telepathy at school to compensate.

In less than 100 years the entire population will be deaf.; They won't be able to enjoy music, or understand speech properly. They will all be mute. The world will be silent. Do you want that? Is that progress? Is that what you want from evolution? The Yuxons have language. It is revered. It is respected. It conveys more than telepathy when used correctly. And sounds and music are used to affect things as 'spells'. If you don't know speech and sounds you can never develop the technology to change the future.
