Ancient storytelling was a very highly regarded esteem within a tribe. They were keepers of history/records, morality, wisdom, integrity, etc. They were what steered society so the accuracy of what was said was not said lightly by them and was carefully done. The really good ones, knew how to relay a story so that any culture or being from anywhere could understand in any time or any season and those stories still hold to the test of time. To many, it might look like a children story, myth, etc on the surface but the further back you look the more you see.
