What was the point of the Truman Show?

it makes more sense than any reality tv show these days.

It was started by a TV production company as a reality show. The production company adopted a baby specifically for the purpose of letting him grow up in front of TV cameras. The parents, towns people were all actors. The point was to provide entertainment, to produce an entertaining reality TV show.

I think the deeper point of that movie was how good of a heart true-man had and how sweet he was the whole time. That that Man's inherent nature.

Also, a bit about what and when people do nice things, when people/cameras are watching, when no one is watching. Then you're supposed to ask yourself do you act different if someone is watching? A whole lovely rabbithole of the goodness of your heart

That movie is a movie about our own reality.

Not really, because we are not surrounded by actors all hired and trained and rehearsed by the production company to pose as our friends, parents, employers, school teachers, etc.

What I liked about the movie was how the director (can't remember his name) totally assumed Truman would be afraid to leave his bubble, would prefer to stay in his TV world in rather than come out and join the real world.
But Truman was an adventurer like all of us and had been searching for something more in his life, till he found it.
When he reached those stairs and realized that his hopes had been fulfilled, that there was more to the world than the desperately boring and restricted life he had had up to that point, I think his feelings as he prepared to start his real life expressed total relief as well as joy.
