They're just not very bright, poor things.They react emotionally when their jesus is questioned or mocked.
Had he any real power or really if he really existed, they would simply ignore any 'attacks' on their holy dude.

People are what they are. It does not matter if they claim to be a square or a round peg if they are not. So it is with people who call themselves Christians and are not. So it is with people who incorrectly assume that others are Christian and assign blame to imperfect people who can not possibly live up to the ideal of perfection and totally miss that the defining characteristic of Christianity is to follow Christ in forgiveness and mercy.
