Extremely! Both of my parents were in the Navy during the end of WWII and the Korean War, and my son is in the Navy now, but he is not on a ship. I am completely disgusted, but not really surprised anymore unfortunately...

Excellent catch, but I would call this speculative on the part of the author, not necessarily prophetic. Survivors was published in 2011 (which isn't really "many" years ago).
