Peeing outside the litter box is a sign to you from her, that something is wrong. Either a medical problem or a mental stress in her environment. Check for medical issues first. Then see if anything changed in her environment. New cat, dog, kids, strays, furniture moved, new litter or box etc. |

They also give everyone a parasite called Toxoplasmosis. It causes serious changes in brain chemistry and is hypothesized to be the reason behind late life mental health and autoimmune disorders. Over the counter kitty food is too acidic. You can add a small amount of sodium bicarb to their water. But mostly they are going to put them on antibiotics for the UTI. I have had cats all my life indoors and they do mot have any diseases you take care of them like you take care of anything in your care that depends on you. outdoor animals risk being hurt or killed or injured with disease when they are to roam outdoirs..I am speaking of domesticated pets. |

It will keep your cat alive longer, but your cat will hate you and will not understand. Kidney and UTI's are really painful. Make the vet put her down if that's her diagnosis. |

He didn't have it, but I think it's worth getting it checked out. It does happen to cats. Not sure why the vet thought the cat peeing in my purse might have something to do with it? Weirdness. In your opinion, in my opinion. But the research is accurate. Read up on Toxoplasma Gondii. You might be infected yourself. Have a psychological/emotional condition that requires meds? Probably infected. Yes they run the risk of death or injury. But do you think they are happy not living up to their killer potential. You think God gave them sharp claws, night vision and fangs for them to cuddle you all day? Last Edited by Luxen on 07/30/2016 12:27 PM "Nobody gets out of here alive." Jim Morrison |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 72693587 United States 07/30/2016 12:25 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Most likely a uti or kidney problems. I would definitely get to the vet because kidney problems are common in cats. I have a 17 year old cat who all of a sudden started peeing in everything and the vet did a urinalysis. There were crystals in his urine so he went through a course of antibiotics and he was better. It took like 2-3 days after he started them and he went back to seeing in his litter box. Good luck op! |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 29184782 Even worse, if they squat in front of you to show you they can't pee, it' a urinary tract blockage. So at least it doesn't sound like that. They can't talk, so we have to pay attention when they act out. Yep. |

It certainly goes through the door when it wants to so physical inability isn't the problem. |

If that turns out to be the diagnosis, please start to feed canned food. ANY canned food is better than dry. Do some research, you will see they most likely will go into remission if caught soon enough with just that diet change. You have to monitor blood sugar closely as it can drop quickly. A human glucose meter will work for felines. And yes, please take her to a vet to be checked. She is telling you something is wrong by her urination issues. |
