I'd say last 20 years. It's the internet and phones that finished it for society. When the internet first came out, society started to decay. When these damn smart phones came out about 10 years or so ago, society really went downhill. I remember when texting started and how it became the main means of communication for most people I knew. I don't talk to those people anymore. As I go around and see most people with their faces stuck in a phone, I realize I should have become a Chiropractor. I'd be rich from fixing necks.

I don't have this experience - but I was in the Military - yes we have a few that squeak up the ranks just by hanging around - but with the way they have cut back and how we have to get things done with less bodies with each passing year - well it kind of streamlines the herd if you know what I am saying.

May I ask how old you are OP?

I am not going to get on a Mil bashing tangent by any means - but I think those born at the end of the last Century have a very unfortunate generation - I came to this theory after reading the book "Outliers" - the same kind of slow down and lost effect happened at the turn of the last Century.

There is a real energy to when you happen to be born into a society as far as opportunities and basic energy within the demographics.

Something to think about - also when you look to figure it all out - take a moment to compare some history - then you start to notice particular trends - that are not just micro in scope.

Its very hard for the early 40s.
Its very much a crushed identity decade probably from about 36-46 - this is evident if you saw that recent thread about loosing ones dreams due to family or what not -

Trust, you hit 50 and things change for the better - something happens to perspective and it seems to brighten. Maybe you accept you are going to die - and that you and your generation are not the end all be all - and you adjust to the flow of humanity more - I dunno - but it gets better again -

Lets go back to the generational thing - and why I noticed -
My step daughter was born in 93.

My son was born in 04.

Just that 11 year difference in generation and culture is visible in the huge difference in these two generations. The observation I have come to is there was a different energy when the Century rolled over -

I think my son and his peers for these reasons and all the sudden increases in technology and science will have opportunities in 10 -15 years we don't even know about at current.

Lets look at an example again from the turn from 1800-1900 - if you asked a child born in the 1890s what they were going to be when they grew up you would have at age 10 - 1900 - your answer would be completely different than if you asked a child born in 1904 at age 10 - 1914 what they might hope to be - in just that short period of time we went from NOT FLYING - TO FLIGHT CAPABILITIES - by the 1930s you could conceivably fly around the world - this is an example of what I mean.

The best thing for Mils and that generation is to keep their eye on the future, to remain flexible - to invest in futurist thought and not be bogged down by lack of opportunity as they see it - you are going to need to be flexible when change comes -

You lost me a bit at the virgins thing - I went to school in the 80s and there were plenty of both whores AND virgins then. Some of this depends on where you grew up. People got absolute blinders on - and when you diverge into sexuality as part of the problem - you're lost.

I went to High School in 3 different parts of the United States. In Florida you went to the beach with your prom date and you fucked. In Chicago surrounded by Catholic ethos - nobody fucked. In Wisconsin living amongst the children of mostly Scandinavians - you fucked. Girls got abortions. College in Minnesota, ho trust me those farm kids were fucking at the earliest of ages yet! This shit has been going on since the age of sex. Don't fool yourself that when you were in High school the girls were good . . . .

How you feel about sex and what it means is directly related to your micro culture, read some anthropology in between mod-ing your computer games. I for the life of me don't understand why/how sex is such a potent mind control tool - to the point they spend hours on this subject in polygraphs when you are working for a clearance.
