Message Subject Binaural Beats WORKS!! SCARY SHIT!

I'm sorry if I sound like a nagging old school teacher but there are a few things I feel I must repeat.

This binaural beat stuff is something that may have just a few decades of accumulated experience of how to use it. It has been developed in a modern society that is largely unconductive to ancient knowledge about the relations between the material world and the spirit worlds.

Believe me, I was not kidding when I suggested that it could be a good idea to draw on the ancient tradition of shamanism, representing roughly 20.000 years of experience in these realms. I highly doubt that evolution has rendered this knowledge obsolete, we are pretty much the same biological creatures although we changed our physical world quite a lot.

Please don't take me wrong. With some comments, I don't think there is anything inherently wrong with using binaural beats as such. On the contrary, I think they may be an efficient means of achieving a state of consciousness that makes possible communication with "the spirit world" or whatever we'd like to call it. The comments I had referred to unexpected and potentially dangerous side-effects of the design of *some* binaural beats.

This is not to say that all binaural beats may be dangerous, I have no knowledge of that. I just felt that example one presented in this thread could be dangerous *for me*, and shared this experience. Of course I'm not blaming the creator of the track at all, on the contrary I think he did a great thing when sharing his experiences and the tracks. It just didn't work out for me although it seems to have worked well for others.

The main problem I have with the use of binaural beats is the conception of it as a means of relaxation and recreation, the idea that you start it before going to sleep and have it rolling all night and that it is good to do so. Nothing says it is a good thing to use auditory deltawave stimulation that way. You cannot trust just a few decades of anecdotal experience saying that "nothing bad happens", or "it is safe".

Drawing on my point of reference for deltawave induction by means of shaman drums instead of binaural beats, they are never used in this way traditionally, not to my knowledge. I see some of you telling about the negative and pointless effects that are to be expected from using it during sleep. Draining of energy, feeling of exhaustion - is that good? Hardly. Entirely predictable effects if you asked me, something that may happen from a failed session now and then for persons practising shamanism.

If I may offer a piece of advice, read all you can about the oldest tradition known to man related to these issues. Google "shamanism" and see what pieces of knowledge you can adapt to your own purposes with using binaural sound. It may be a clash of purposes since shamanism is about hard work to do good, it is not about recreation. Nevertheless I think there are lots to learn even if you just desire a means for relaxation.

The last thing you want to do is playing mindlessly with you mind.
