Cheaper By the Dozen (1950)
My wife said this movie made her cry when she watched it as a little girl. I had never seen it before, so I decided watch it with her and my daughter.

In the beginning I was pleasantly surprised by some of humor and the easy-going nature of the movie.

However, as it progressed, I was a bit shocked to learn that it contained some serious cringe-worthy, feminist propaganda; From the rebellious daughter who wanted to show her knees on the beach, to the subtle and clever message that having too many kids is "disgusting."

There were also elements of propaganda related to the medical field and male promiscuity.

The end of the movie would have been traumatizing to anyone in that time, especially women, which leads me to believe that this movie's purpose was to use trauma-based mind control techniques to sway the views and opinions of women, and men, all over the country.

During one part, when the Dad is describing an efficient way to take a bath/shower, he starts with his left shoulder, works his way down, moves to the right and works his way up.

My wife and I both acknowledged that we, too, start with the left shoulder and work down the arm. I wonder how many reading this start with their left shoulder.

Kind of makes you wonder how susceptible we are to mind control without even knowing it. I know this all goes into subliminal messages and advertising, but it's not something we think about on a regular basis.

You're right. I shouldn't have been, but I don't remember older movies containing this kind of propaganda. I suppose it's because I wasn't "awake" at that time.

I never saw Rebel without a cause, but I see what you mean.
