Realization of Id, Ego, and Super-Ego

Lady friend's 14 y.o. son is stuck on computer gaming. There is almost no response when his mother or I enter into the room, even after prolonged absence. I have come to realize he is stuck in his "Id"--his instantaneous existence and entertainment.

If he can be exited out of his computer life (easy enough), perhaps he can be made aware of his "Ego"--his need and desire to stay alive. Perhaps a trip into the woods or a sudden lack of power to the wifi/computer will slowly bring him to a realization that he exists outside of the entertainment. Or it may take several trips/power-outages. He needs to discover his "Ego".

After a period of realization of his need/desire for continued existence and importance of self-survival(Ego), he should be able to comprehend that all people should develop such need, and that there are obvious concepts to realize that we must address to live in co-operation with other sentient life (our Super-Ego).

How many others here are exposed to youngsters that are stuck in their "Id"?

Are there many folks who are stuck in their "Ego" state? )It would appear so from some of the posts).

IMO, a large percentage of GLP posts regard differences in opinions regarding our rules for our Super-Egos--which is the appropriate stage for human adults.
