Anonymous Coward User ID: 72698393 United States 08/04/2016 07:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yrs,I have seen this. Thanks for posting, now I know I'm not seeing things that aren't there... I have seen these on a couple of occasions. It is a bright flash, like you described. The ones I saw would flash about every 15-30 seconds. The location would change between each flash, by about 20-30 arc degrees. Craziest thing... |

No, these flashes have a definite point of origin. I first noticed it from the corner of my eye and thought it was just a weird trick of the eye but when I saw it several times with friends I knew it was more than that. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 72724299 France 08/04/2016 09:43 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yeah, we had lightening last night in GA tards - BUT THAT IS NOT WHAT THE OP IS TALKING ABOUT. Not heat lightening either because I've seen it in winter as well. It's usually between 2 and 5 am. Lights up a whole area like a flash bulb for a split second. Blink and you miss it. |

I first noticed it from the corner of my eye and thought it was just a weird trick of the eye but when I saw it several times with friends I knew it was more than that. bout 3 weeks ago, around midnight. South East Pa. Northwestern Sky. Flashes with a definite pattern, low on horizon, about 30 seconds apart. Went on for 10-15 minutes before I just got bored and stopped watching. Definite predictable pattern to the flashes, and not a cloud in the sky. I know what heat lighting looks like. This was not lightning. Thanks for posting OP. There's a lot going on in the sky. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 72719825 United States 08/04/2016 09:56 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | yes I see these often, i work outside at night. Op means a single point of light flashing in the sky, as he said it looks just like a flashbulb. Bright, then it slowly fades out. I hear iridium flares, satellites catching early morning sun over the horizon and reflecting briefly. I figure it's the space fleet hitting warp speed, shrug. |

I've never seen on light up either. They always catch my eye after they've lit up. But they are by far brighter than even ISS. It literally looks like an old time flashbulb. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72719825 Here's iridium flares: Yes it's not iridium flares looks nothing like that. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 72205558 United States 08/04/2016 10:29 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I see them often now. I'll be outside looking up for shooting stars or studying the constellations and I'll see the flash. It's like a camera flash bulb, just flashes once. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 69265240 Then I will wait and in the same spot sometime later, can be 10 minutes or it can be an hour and it will flash again. I have had other friends see it too around here (Texas). Anybody else experience this? yes, something is going on, see them on crystal clear nights with only stars out...flashes, like a camera flashbulb going off |
