Mary does have a special place. The Orthodox tradition and the Roman one are NOT the same… you might want to learn the difference before lumping these two together…

you might also want to start with the basics when talking about why Mary is honored:

"And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost: 42And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. 43And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 44For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy. 45And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.

Mary's Song of Praise
(1 Samuel 2:1-11)

46And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,

47And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.

48For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed."

Luke 1:41-48

I did make a distintion. Clearly the RCC is adding to Ephesus. Extrapolating Catholic Mariolatry from that passage seems like quite the strech.

just to be clear: "Catholic" means "universal" and to accurate, the Roman church is not the true catholic Church, but the Roman catholic one…

the "Mary Worship" of Rome appears to be quite pagan and "goddess" inspired… lucifer is also "semirimus/venus" … so you can see where that is going… w Rome Christ is portrayed as a baby w mother or as crucified, but less often risen and powerful…

Learn history. The Catholic Church today is the same as the Catholic Church that chose the books of the New Testament in the 4th century.
