Giant stone trees are infact plausible
Minus the Giants and rock quarry's the video does have some legitimacy that the Russian failed to mention. So go back a few million years then go back much further and you will find that long long ago much of earths water was highly acidic. This acidic water is responsible for much of earths caves and tunnels. Now given that life always finds a way and that plants will always appear first before any other complex life ( excluding fungus) one could easily see how "stone trees" could have existed. Trees use their root systems to gather nutrent rich water from the soil which in turn the tree turns into leaves and other tree related items.

Well if highly acidic water is chock full of heavy minerals it would seem that the trees natural makeup would also be stone. As the acidity of the water dropped so would the availability of the heavy minerals. The tree would no longer grow and eventually die. Now did someone cut down the trees? No no they did not did the tree eventually break apart at weak points and erode over millions of years? Yes yes it did. Do I know this for a fact nope, could It all be bull spit yep sure could.

But it is plausible as far as I can tell that trees would be able to form a rock like structure utilizing dissolved minerals in highly acidic water.

good points. this tree forest video is blowing up. I spent the day yesterday researching the tree stumps theory. I'm still looking into it but your points make sense.

Having personally dug large petrified logs out of the ground in Northern California the idea is certainly intriguing..
Not everyone has fossils in their back yard... They are actually quite rare. The prosses of fossilisation by which organic matter is changed to solid stone is a very rare set of conditions.

Didn't he say there was no "real" stone. Only petrified wood. So how did they grow in the first place? Plus trees that size would require copious amounts of water.

Oh and of course, how could I forget the most important question? The root system. If it's a tree, then there is a massive network of roots underground, which would be better preserved, because they are underground. Any evidence of the roots yet?
