Honest Opinions on Denver, CO...thinking of moving there
I am just beginning to look at Denver as a location to move to in over a year. I thought asking you kind folks what your opinions are.

I don't really have any desire to smoke weed recreationally, only have an interest in the medical aspects of it. I love the terrain, the hiking. The people seemed so nice, would catch a chat at almost every diner and coffee shop I went to. I just loved the energy of the city.

But I want to know every negative experience people have had while living there. I lived in Madison, WI, believing all the ratings on being the top city to live in, low unemployment rate, low crime rate, and I found out Madison bought all the ratings. Madison was a very bad experience, all the people I met were elitist of some sort, very uber liberal to a point where it seemed they spoke another language. I enjoyed all the beauty it offered, but the horrible people made it not an enjoyable experience.

I am happy where I am at in the Chicago area, but with how the political atmosphere is, race wars, crime, I have to make future planning.

I am going back to school, and my degree is limited to where I can move, where I will probably have to go to bigger cities.

If you can get past that, place is aaawwweeeesssome!

compared to most large cities, it's pretty mellow. If you like the beach, you find anything resembling that. The mountains are awesome. You'll find shitty people anywhere.

it's certainly much better than Chicago.

I have lived in the Midwest most my life, and we have that here. I think it's everywhere, good & bad, yin & yang. What's it like trying to make friends in the area? And the things you can do on the weekend BLOW MY MIND. So many trails to explore. I love biking, hiking, and kayaking, and Denver checks off on that list. I also like being close to some other awesome road trip options.

I do love Chicago, lots of good people. I just see Denver being safer, better all around. I am sure they are sick of newcomers going there for the weed, and don't know if they have a hatred for them yet.

And I love dem mountains. I enjoy the culture. I just dont want to make another mistake I did with Madison, Wis where they boosted what a great city it is, and it's a lie that were bought.

I answered your question and now you want an interview?

Ha. I'm just messing with you opie. I went to CO with an already planned meeting with fellow dosers(dose-ers/ecstacy users), so I was invited, by people I met at an old yahoo chatroom. We went beyond what normal chat is and actually planned and met up. It was cool asF. Quit asking these questions that you don't need to use to decide to go to CO. Just go. Its a badass place, but you know you have to party in order to get to know some folks...unless you are on a totally different level that I was at the time...

it's a lot easier to make friends since you like doing those things. There are many clubs and meetup groups for those activities.

Pick up some winter sports too and you'll be busy year-round with new friends.

Denver has 500 miles of bike trails. In the summer, there's a 100 mile bike ride organized every two weeks somewhere within 150 mile drive. There are mt. bike races for all levels of amateurs most weekends. Someone's always organizing a hike up a 14er. I don't paddle, so can't comment on kayaking, but friends were always doing it.

I got laid way more from women that i did sports activities with than any other aspect of my life by an exponential amount.

Have you been to Ft. Collins or Loveland? They’re not far north of Denver and nicer places. Although for a city its size Denver is good.

Denver native. Rent expensive ,roads and venues too crowded now. Ruined by to many people. Can't even drive to the mountains without a traffic jam. New homeless young people roaming downtown.

My experience with Denver
Traffic is bad, not Cali bad but bad none the less.
I hate the cold weather, there are lots of nice weather days, but when its cold, it's miserable.
I lived in Parker, it's actually a nice safe suburb majority White Christians.
Everybody does drugs in Denver, not just pot, IMO it's like the cocaine user capital of the USA, although I haven't been to Miami.
Lots of meth in the northern suburbs.
The people are generally nice, but they don't really like transfers especially from Texas.

The restaurants in Denver are really great and Cherry Creek is fancy and good for people watching.
The black thugs are fairly harmless, not as violent as other metros, from what I hear, however there are millions of South Americans and Mexicans who have taken over certain parts of town, in addition muslims seemed to have over run the City of Aurora.

My favorite area was DTC/Park Meadows/Cherry Hills. The stuck up young people who attend Denver University are always annoying too.

I did visit Boulder, and didn't like it, I would be interested in Ft. Collins, but worried it has the vibe of Boulder. I am not a fan of college towns, went through it with Madison, WI. I will also look into Loveland.

Re: Honest Opinions on Denver, CO...thinking of moving there
I live in a SE Denver suburb. Housing isn't affordable at all. If you have a really good paying job and you don't mind sitting in a crazy amount of traffic then maybe give it a try. Rush hour starts around 3:30 and lasts till like 7pm so going anywhere during those hours is a complete pain.

If you aren't coming her for the marijuana then I would look elsewhere. I moved to Colorado 20 years ago and while I support the legalization it has changed Colorado in ways I didn't think it would. People are coming here in droves...driving up housing prices and there are homeless all over.

This is something the Denver newspaper wrote about just a couple weeks ago...Denver ties Boulder for the most expensive rent in the metro area where two-bedroom apartments in both cities have a median price of $1,800. The median cost for a one-bedroom apartment in Denver is $1,330, which is lower than Boulder’s $1,450.

Very expensive to live here. Everyone seems to have to work two jobs just to get by. The traffic sucks ass. Dope heads from all over the country come here and then try to drive. Really bad pollution, so much so you can barely see the foothills. Too many fucking people! Welcome to paradise.

That's insanity, I didn't look into housing yet. I for sure couldn't afford that. I didn't start to look at housing, assuming it couldn't be too outrageous, it wasn't San Francisco or Seattle or NYC. I wouldn't mind to live in the blue collar area away from the yuppies, I usually always do.

It is crazy. My husband may be getting transferred to the Fresno, CA area and its unbelievable that its cheaper to live there than here. We are to the point where we feel we have to move to be able to save anything.

I wish more states would legalize...I firmly believe that is what has caused this massive influx of people.

I grew up in MT and always planned to retire in CO. Not anymore! I lost interest in that when all the CA refugees went there and fucked everything up with their liberal lunacy. Then they legalized pot which I knew was going to attract hoards of retards, burnouts, bums, etc.

The biggest problem is what's been mentioned by others. The state is majorly CREEPY. Google Denver airport, check out that satanic blue horse in the front, read about the area UNDER the airport, the NWO art all over the place. Reputed capitol of the NWO. You want to live in the middle of that nest of snakes? Go south, my friend! The last refuge of the sane.

Edited to mention: the authorities there are beyond scary. So many stories on the web about parents who have had their kids stolen by CPS, which is probably a front to get kids for pedos in DC, etc. Dig far enough about the Columbine shooters and you will find that they were enraged at the local PD because at least one of the shooters had been RAPED by someone in the dept. Lots of very bad things going on in CO...

Re: Honest Opinions on Denver, CO...thinking of moving there
Denver is like sponge, attracting all of the scum from around the country to one place.

Be thankful for that, because now the rest of the country is better off.

Have you been to Ft. Collins or Loveland? They’re not far north of Denver and nicer places. Although for a city its size Denver is good.

I did visit Boulder, and didn't like it, I would be interested in Ft. Collins, but worried it has the vibe of Boulder. I am not a fan of college towns, went through it with Madison, WI. I will also look into Loveland.

Ft Collins is an awesome city to live in, much different than Boulder. Christians dominate this city as well which makes it a peaceful prosperous city. I grew up in this area of Cheyenne/Ft Collins and I still live here. You might also want to check out Greeley.
