Air is rushing in from the outside due to the lower relative pressure and this causes spin. It is @ 20 MPH right now. No one has ever seen anything like this before. My house is okay for now (I live on high ground), but a lot of my friends have water in their homes and we are expecting a lot more rain. Quoting: My Two Cents I'm in South La. as well but we are on high ground like you. Just got off the phone with my aunt and over in Central. 3 of their neighbors who've never had water in their house are now flooding. Listening to the live stream, sounds like they are running out of sandbags already. So, while not a hurricane or tropical depression (yet), guessing this is a 1000-year flood event (similar or worse than what we had in TN in 2010). Definitely worth watching. Edit: Just watched it on my little radar, and it is one helluva storm regardless of what you call it, and it is beginning to rotate. There is flooding here, school is cancelled and it has been raining like crazy, but there is ZERO wind. This is just a big downpour. Anybody saying this has hurricane characteristics has never lived through one, LOL. Lots more flooding coming, but NOT hurrucane-ish. |
