Canada 01/07/2007 10:55 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Stormy weather hits Japan Japan's weather agency has issued weather warnings as strong winds grounded flights and delayed express trains. A low pressure system that rapidly grew over the Japanese archipelago on the weekend is expected to bring snow storms in the northeastern area of the nation throughout the night until Monday morning, the Japanese Meteorological Agency said Sunday. The stormy weather that moved northward from central Japan paralysed the nation's air transportation. Over 200 flights were grounded at an airport in central Aichi prefecture, Jiji Press said. High-speed trains that run across the Japanese mainland also delayed due to heavy snow, Jiji said. The Japanese Meteorological Agency warned of as much as 80 centimeters (32 inches) of snowfall along the western coast of central and northern Japan and 60 centimeters on the northern coast of Hokkaido by Monday evening.
